Holiday sales slump :(

Hi guys,

I have been open since March, but started putting some effort into my shop in the summer. I thought I was slowly building sales for a while, but it seems to have just died off and now I get 1-2 a month.

So....after a particularly nasty day at work, I came home to see a mere 17 views on my site, and I'm feeling a bit discouraged at the moment. Before I go pour myself a large glass of wine and distract myself with Survivor, I thought I would ask some advice.

Any suggestions for what I could do that would make you want to buy my jewelry? Or, for that matter, anything that I am currently doing that makes you NOT want to buy my jewelry?

Thanks so much, I appreciate your help
Laura :)

I think that things have been slow all over Etsy lately. You have a lovely shop and beautiful jewelry. The only suggestion I have is to list more items. Best of luck!

Re: Holiday sales slump :(

I love your shop! All I can think of is to add more items and maybe try moving the words "necklace" or "earrings" etc. to the front of your titles. Maybe try that on a few and see if it makes a difference for you. Also, I only checked a couple of your items, but the ones I did maybe could use a little more on tags. I'd try "book lovers" "upcycled " "eco friendly" And don't forget to use multiple word tags now that we can- exact word match is more relevant in search. So if someone searched "upcycled earrings" and your tag is "upcycled" you'll be behind all that tag with exact word match.

On a side note I'm feeling a bit of the same, my views are still good, but the last month or so I've had a BIG sales dip... I wonder if everyone is waiting for after Thanksgiving for the sales?

Yeah very slow here, thought maybe it was my style of jewelry? Not sure? Maybe it will get better. I would love a drink of wine but since I'm preggo I guess I'll settle for a cookie lol!

Re: Holiday sales slump :(

This should make you feel better: I have not had a sale here since last NOVEMBER, yes, one year ago! Can't figure out what I am doing wrong. Please check my shop out and give me any suggestions. I really need help. My ego is lagging big time.

Re: Holiday sales slump :(

The first three words of your title(s) should convey the basic words that a shopper might type into the search box.. Plus the first line of your description should repeat that... Plus the words you used in your title should be repeated one more time in your tags! At least that's what I had to work on late summer when etsy changed it's default search to relevancy.

Your shop is wonderful with beautiful, unique items! I get really high views but not many sales at all... The only advice I have is the same as most others have for you and that is to continue to add new items as often as you can. Good luck and I hope your sales pick up!

Done all that SzetoBaby but it's has not helped. Views way down sales way down.
Laura, you have lovely items and good pictures, descriptions, tags, and prices. Don't get discouraged. It seems to be universal. May be Etsy will notice and come up with another change...

Re: Holiday sales slump :(

Thanks so much for all of your fabulous suggestions--I certainly will be making some changes! I guess it would probably be more productive to spend this time building inventory, rather than complaining ;)

I am sorry to hear that others are having a bit of a slump too. This is my first holiday season on etsy, but I thought it would be busier.....Hopefully Missy Corey is right, and it will pick up after Thanksgiving. For the record, I am from Canada, so it feels weird saying that since our Thanksgiving was in October!
