Re: Holiday Boot Camp Week One: Set a Goal

I'll be upgrading my photos, titles and tags for now. Long term is mastering SEO. I'm still fairly new here and there is so-o-o much to know about selling on ESTY. I'm looking forward to the holiday boot camp!

This will be my first holiday season. I'm a jewelry designer, so my goal is to create a better workspace, build inventory, as well as my skills.

Re: Holiday Boot Camp Week One: Set a Goal

Finally sat down and read those Holiday Boot Camp emails. So glad I did; I'm considering starting a new product line, and they really helped me think more objectively about how it's going to work in a way that's best for my shop right now instead of getting caught up in my excitement and just jumping in (and maybe spending too much money).

My goals!

1. To improve listing descriptions - making sure there are links between related listings, cut out unnecessary information so it can all be read quickly, add info about gift options, and add the cut off dates for holiday shipping.

2. Figure out which aspects of the new product line can be turned out the quickest and more cost efficiently in time for the holiday season. Considering including it in my own packaging to not only jazz it up but also to give buyers a free preview that might inspire another purchase.

3. This one ties in with two - think of ways to improve my packaging so it's a little more exciting when people receive it and more suitable for gifting.

Re: Holiday Boot Camp Week One: Set a Goal

I haven't done much today, apart from just finishing to translate my shop in French, so now all I have to do is translate as I go for every new item, which should be easier than translating 15 items in one go!

So that's the number 1 crossed off my list for now.

Re: Holiday Boot Camp Week One: Set a Goal

This is my second year on Etsy. My biggest challenge is to have more people to visit my store and make more sales. Need better descriptions of my listings? Better titles? Will greatly appreciate any word of advice.

Thank you.

Re: Holiday Boot Camp Week One: Set a Goal

I've done the goal setting and holiday plan for the boot camp. I was just going to go back in & print the 2 emails to put in my folder and can only find the 2nd one - the pdf that has all the steps. How can I find the first one? Can someone resend it to me?

Re: Holiday Boot Camp Week One: Set a Goal

My goal is to get more traffic to my store and have steady sales. However, although my shop is well stocked, I want to create more since that has fallen to the wayside recently as I was taking new photos, working on tags and titles etc. I am not quite sure how to find a good working balance between these two goals - and to be there for my family during this special season.

My goal is to up my total sales to 20. I just started selling in July so this would be a very large leap for me. Increasing my marketing efforts and establishing a target market will be huge in this process.

Find the time to expand/create new product lines. I have been sitting on ideas since June. I have not had one day to create without anything else on my to do list.

Re: Holiday Boot Camp Week One: Set a Goal

My goal is to increase my holiday sales by increasing my listings to 100 items by December 13th (versus my current average of 25). But first, I need to clean and organize my workspace, then create and adhere to a work schedule. Whoo-hoo!!!

Re: Holiday Boot Camp Week One: Set a Goal

I have 2 current goals. One is to (finally) begin working on Christmas things (I'm running nearly a month behind on this cuz I had a 3 week temp gig that ended yesterday ... at least my finances got a much needed boost!), and the other is to work my way thru the pile of unlisted items which surfaced after last Sunday's craft fair.

Re: Holiday Boot Camp Week One: Set a Goal

My goal is very simple: to improve my sales for the holiday season, which has always been my best. So I want to beat my sales for last year. I have a lot of sub goals for this: better marketing, more giftable items, etc.

Re: Holiday Boot Camp Week One: Set a Goal

Hi Kappa,
I saw your comment on the Etsy success team thread about the upcoming holiday season.
Looks like you decided to jump in!

You have very cute crocheted scarves, but a few thoughts:
Did you price out your competition before pricing yours?

I have to say, $40 is pretty steep. I searched "crocheted head scarf", and over 1000 listings, most at about half of your price ($20-25). That's a lot of competition for this category.

Also searched "crocheted triangle kerchief" - less items about 50, but still the price issue.

I'd look at your price and also you need way more items if you want to show up on Google search, and get noticed and get sales for the holiday season.

But I say go for it!
LAurie
