Help

Just wondering what's wrong with my shop as I haven't had a sale. I've joined holiday bootcamp but I'm still searching for a buddy. I do make silver jewellery but I have not been encouraged to put them up as I wouldnt want money tied down if
i dont make a sale.

I've been tempted to under price some of the items, even though I used the Etsy pricing lab advise to price. I compare my items with other sellers and they manage to have really low prices maybe as a result of low cost.

I really need help, shall I take all my beading items off and bite the bullet and invest in silver and put them up instead?

i would like advise, critique and tips.

Thank you Family :)

Re: Help

Jewellery is a tough market here on Etsy. I would try and increase the number of listings and have more variety in your shop. You need to invest a little to get your shop going - but I know this is tough. I don't think silver jewellery necessarily sells much better - really depends very much on your designs and how much promoting you do.

Re: Help

Your jewelry is lovely. I think there are a couple of things you could do to get you noticed more. You definitely need to have more items in your shop. When you think about it, when you go into a store, would you spend time there if they don't have much stock?

Your pictures could use improvement. The thumbnails should show your items to their best advantage. It would be good to have a closer view for your thumbnails.

The other thing is your tags. "Present, gift, etsy present, etsy gift' are not terms buyers will search for. I'm working on fixing my tags right now, too because I didn't understand how to choose them when I first listed my items. Your tags don't have to be one word tags. If you have a pearl bracelet, use pearl bracelet as a tag.

I hope this helps. I truly don't want to offend you, but I do think you'll have better luck if you do these things. Jewelry is a hard sell on Etsy, but I know people who have had great success with it and they have told me the same things about my shop as I told you. There are over 3 million jewelry listings on Etsy, so you can see your competition is huge.

Re: Help

I don't want to be a serial poster, but maybe you could consider making some jewelry that isn't silver. It would cut your cost and the price you have to charge.

Just a thought.

Re: Help

Thank you whatsingrandmasdrawers I really doubt that i'd be offended by any advice I get now. I started including gifts and Etsy present when I thought my tags were not helping.

I have tried to work on my photo taking skills but it seems I might need professional help in that area.

I've just realised tags didn't have to be one word, I saw it on another post, If you think of anything else I would love to hear it, I dont mind serial posters.

Thank you!

Re: Help

I'm glad I didn't offend you.

I have the same picture problem that you have. I had a little Sanyo point and shoot camera which gave me blurry pics, then borrowed a Kodak from a friend, but those weren't great, either. Finally I bought the Nikon version of a point and shoot (P310) and I'm getting the best pictures! So now I'm re-taking all of my pictures - for the Third time. I keep telling myself 'it's just 140 items'! LOL But I want them all done before the Christmas rush. I hope there is a Christmas rush.

Picmonkey.com will help sharpen your pictures and fotofuze.com will remove unwanted background tints as long as you take your pics on plain white or black background.. Both are free and you use them online, so there's no downloading involved.

Re: Help

I was introduced to fotofuze earlier tonight I've tried it but I'm not as satisfied with it as I was expecting. I don't have a camera problem it's probably a me/amateur problem as I now own a Canon 1100 DSLR and use that to take most of my pictures. I'll retake the pictures and give myself a week to work on the shop.

I hope it would be in time for the holiday rush.
