Help with International Shipping Cost

Any suggestions or help from other shop owners to lower international shipping cost for our customers?

I have had several international purchases and customers who have paid the shipping, but recently a few have chosen to cancel order due to shipping fees.

I use USPS Priority International, but our products HEAVY & Oversize (over 12") The cost is outrageous for most items...shipping cost more than the product.

Does anyone have a better (CHEAPER) way to ship heavier products to international customers...I am loosing business! Lost a large wholesale retail sale due to lack of shipping options :-(

Example: One of our Lonney Bin Wooden Crates (79.00) weighs 18- 22lbs and cost to ship to Canada is $70.00...UK is $90

I'd love to hear if there is a way to reduce costs, but I haven't found any myself.
Just had to quote someone $60 to ship a painting to Australia, and I tried really hard to bring the price down, but couldn't. I didn't even include my packing materials in the cost.
