Help! What am i doing wrong?

I am 18 years old and have been drawing for as long as i can remember. Not till recently did i think about selling my art. I know my art is great and everyone keeps telling me i need to sell my art. SO i decided to make an Etsy. I posted a bunch the first day and tried to maintain one a day. However, my page wasn't getting enough traffic. I decided to spend 5$ a week on advertising and promoting my page. i then created a Facebook and Instagram art gallery to help promote and offer deals. i decided to purchase 250 business cards as well and hope to just get my name out there. However my page is still unsuccessful in regards to sales and views. i only have about 350 in about 4 days. I was hoping some experienced artist who have had success selling their art can check out my shop

and give me pointers or tips on how to promote my page and get more traffic. Please help me, im desperate i feel my art should speak for itself if it only had enough views.

Re: Help! What am i doing wrong?

First of all 350 views and a sale in 4 days (especially your first 4 days) is pretty stellar. I didn't get my first sale from a stranger for 2 months and after 10 months I average about 200 views in 4 days.

I only looked quickly, but for starters you need a lot more items to be found on Etsy. I know that takes time, but do the best you can to get as many items listed as you can.

Also it looks like you need to learn about SEO (search engine optimization). You will find teams about SEO here on Etsy. Learining about SEO will help you with tags and titles which is how your items get found on Etsy. Your tags should be more than one word and I don't think your titles will help you get found in search. I don't know a lot about titles and tags for art prints, but I would think it would be more beneficial if some of your titles started with the type of print it is or a simplified version of the subject matter. Think about what shoppers will type in search. Will they type in realistic kid with a demonic twist print or will they type in just demonic print, or type in terms that describes your type of art?

Instead of melting mushroom print I would maybe use just mushroom print first because the first 2-3 words in your title are the most important and the word melting will reduce your relevancy for mushroom print which is more likely to be what someone will type in search. Then you can add other keywords after the main one of mushroom print. Same with the holding skull print. I would use just skull print first for the same reasons.

Find a team and learn all about SEO. Then what I said will make more sense. The SEO teams will also teach you how to be found by search engines like google. Good luck, you've already got a great start!

Having a week old shop and getting your first sale is great!

I think three things you can do: find your target market, once you do, promote your items (even if you haven't perfected your target market, still promote) AND of course, add more items to your shop.

Also, I second the SEO comment above.

Honestly? Other than SEO (which I find incredibly difficult) and the fact that you opened after Christmas...I think you are doing quite well. If you've got more art to list, list it. It's really better to have a couple pages of listings.

Good luck!

You should be thrilled to have made a sale in the 1st 4 days you are open. You are getting a lot more views than shops that have been on here for a long time. Be patient. Add more items and work on SEO. You are doing fine.
