Help! Store Critique in Need!

Hi,
I've had my store open for a few months now but had only one sale (from a friend!). I'm a newbie and still learning the ropes around Etsy. Can anyone help me with some feedback on my store? Thank you!

Re: Help! Store Critique in Need!

Quick suggestions, from a non-expert:
You need close up pictures. Even if they look cute, you can't see what is in the picture!
I have been told to hit the Renew button- a lot....or it's going to get lost on Etsy!
Good luck! :)

I love the concept, however I agree with Petalknits, you need to get more close up on your photos, you may even consider scanning the print directly instead of showing a photo of it ont he wall. If you are going to show a photo of the print on the wall, consider framing a few and even consider setting up a scenario where viewers would see it in a setting (ex: framed above the fireplace or in the kitchen). Also, check out other print shops to see how they are displaying similar prints. Good Luck!!

Re: Help! Store Critique in Need!

I am not sure what it is called- but under your shop name on the top left corner you should add a little description about what you sell. If you look at my page you can see what I am talking about. It helps with SEO searches and also helps people to quickly understand the purpose of your shop when they land on your page. Definitely add to your pictures to use every spot. They are the main thing you are paying for. Good luck!

Re: Help! Store Critique in Need!

Hi, Purdey,
I had a look at your shop - I am a jewelry seller, too. The first thing that jumps out a me is that it is too dark - your avatar and photos are taken in shadow. I am not a photographer by any means, but I found that natural light works much better than indoor light if you do not have a professional studio. Try taking the pictures in your yard or the park, and use some props so people have a idea of perspective. You also need an eye-catching banner. I made my from a digital photo I took myself and then used Picnik free photoshop software to crop and decorate it. I had never done this before, and it came out just fine.
