Help! Someone ripped off my copy.

Hey Guys!!

I need some advice. Just a few minutes ago I was checking out my rankings for Etsy Seo. I noticed that not only has someone copied my idea for my coasters, and my personalization but they totally ripped of my listing text copy! I am frustrated.

I am fine with the competition. I don't need any validation about my photography and realize that my products would inspire people to replicate them.

How would you go about alerting this person? I didn't see valid reason to report this seller's listing on the "report this item to Etsy" link. They literally just copied and pasted my description into their listing and even included what I am assuming is inaccurate information about the origin of the product because well, the sellers description copied my location which is different then their listed location.

Any ideas? I sometimes lack a lot of tact when I am angry at something and can be overly expressive which offends people unintentionally. So any way to delicately tell this person they ripped me off, and to have a little respect would be nice :)

wow, that is some rudeness!!! I would report them, that really crosses the line.

I ended up messaging the seller telling her I see what she has done, and within 30 minute she deleted or deactivated the listing. She did not reply back to me which is fine. I am so glad that she did the right thing :)

I had that same thing happen! LOL so funny. They immediately deleted their listing. Thankfully their drawings were sub par. It was simply the fact that their listing was the same exact words as mine, WORD FOR WORD.

If she hadn't, you could have sent a copy of your listing and hers to abuse@etsy.com and let them know what was going on. They WILL take care of that.

Contact them first to try and make them stop (in a polite way, of course). You will be surprised how often that works.
If that does not work, you can contact Etsy support and they will help you.

Tell them that you noticed that their photos and text match yours and ask them to delete it. But, they may need to be reported. They are probably doing this to other sellers, as well. I had a seller on Alibaba copy my photos of hand-stamped stones and offer them in bulk. I contacted her and reported her to Alibaba admins and it was removed within hours. @BeaG my second update in the post noted that she deleted the listing. I sent a polite as possible message and she just removed it. I checked back this morning and it was still gone - I sent her a message letting her know it didn't go unnoticed. I'm sure she will eventually put it up again, and that is fine - but I just hope she writes her own copy next time!

@Cynthia, thankfully the shop had > 5 listings up in the shop. Some of them are generic stuff that is floating around Pinterest that everyone is doing. :)
