Haven't made a single sale. Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hello so I am somewhat new to etsy. I have been on the site trying to sell fine art items for some time with no luck. I understand that fine art isn't the easiest thing to sell because of price, size, and general use. I'm just curious if I have done something wrong in building my shop or how my listing are made. I have noticed my listings as well as shop on a daily basis get little to no views. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated. I love this site and hope to be able to sell a few of my sculpture for the first time.

Thank you for your time.

The biggest problem area is your tag words and descriptions. Your tags should be 2-3 words and reflect your title. This is probably your number one reason why people aren't finding you. You might want to join an SEO team to help you out more with that.

I took a look at a couple of your listings. The first thing I noticed is that in your description you put, Or Best Offer. This is not Ebay. You want to price your items and if someone isn't interested that is fine, but don't allow people to bid on your items.

You only have 7 items. You need to really get over 50 items to really get consistent views. Also, include dimensions. I didn't see how big these sculptures are, which is critical if someone has a really tiny space. To appeal to an array of people, you may want to include smaller pieces of art so that there is a range of pricing. I would never be able to buy anything in your shop.

Very unique and lovely artwork! Good luck!

Read about SEO. Your titles and especially tags could use work. Elizabeth's suggestion to join an SEO team is a great one -- they have sooo much information. For a quick overview of the general tips, I like this video's SEO section:

The idea of making cheaper items is also a great one. Most people on etsy probably aren't looking to buy art that is upwards of $500, but if you could make stationery with your art on it or mini versions or something else, that would be awesome and I think would help round your shop out so that a broader pool of people would be able to shop and buy from it.

You call yourself Anonymous, you have no about page, no profile, no location, no policies. You really don't look like a shop to me or an artist who wants to take ownership for their work. Hope that didn't sound too harsh. I think you have very interesting work, but I think you have to be a bit less mysterious when selling online.
With your type of work, I do not believe you need cheaper items or more items, you just need to market your art to the right people and tag it properly. Good luck.

Very good suggestions for Anonymous. Very helpful and will help me also.
I have been on Etsy for quite a few months and have not sold one thing.

I know that I need to have more items and plus better photos perhaps???

Is there anyone who has the time to look at my 'shop' and can give me some advice also, would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

I agree with Arlene. You can't be anonymous and expect buyers to take you seriously or invest a large sum of money in your work. You need to spend some time working on your shop, policies, profile etc. Youve got some great suggestions here. Its not easy, but think of your shop as being in a mall full of art shops....what is gonna make the buyer come into yours?

Beautiful items btw.
Happy selling!!!!

Lorraine....just a quick reply to your question....you need more items!!
Offer more/ different fragrances for your bath and body items. Work on your pictures and decide on a cohesive theme for your shop....hth

I agree with all of the above, and additionally, I would suggest you add some personal stories to your item descriptions. The descriptions say what it is and how it was made, but that's it. These pieces would be a major purchase for most people, and art is very personal. I think you should tell stories about what inspired you to create each piece, why you chose the materials, etc. Make your customers feel like they're insiders. If you were having a show at a gallery, you would walk around and talk to people about how you conceived of the pieces, etc, right? So do that here too. And people who buy art like to show it to their friends, and telling others the story about the piece and how it came to be is part of that.

Query for Jen Jacobs.
So do you mean that I should have one shop for knitting items and another for fragrances/body products rather than under one umbrella?
I looked at your shop and you have lovely crocheted items but no other types of products and it does look great.

Hi Lorraine,
im certainly no expert, but one of the things that you will hear a lot of on these teams and in the forums is about branding. You want to have a consistant and recognizable brand....you have two distinctive lines that will attract very different customers....
If two shops is too much to manage, then think about arranging your shop so each of your lines stands out and the customer has a choice of items....hth

Re: Haven't made a single sale. Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Lorraine Radovan Two shops may not be the best advice. I did find that when I added non similar items it brought people to my shop that would not have come other wise. The only common thread is I made it.

Anonymous REALLY. your art is good but life has a story. If you don't what anyone to know who and what your about at least make something up, that includes your art. Tell the story how it came to life! And you have only been trying to sell for only a few months. I did find more traffic to my shop when I had over 50 things in the shop.

Re: Haven't made a single sale. Am I doing something wrong? Any help would be greatly appreciated

Problem #1, you need to have that first page filled with items. People want to know that they are purchasing from a real shop which leads me to the other issues.

Problem #2, art is personal. If you went to a museum or gallery showing, the artist would be there or in the case of a museum, there is detailed information about the artist. The buyer wants to know you, they want to know what inspired you to create your art, who or what is your muse? I buy art from artists I relate to in some way. I can't do this with your art--you are absent.

Problem #3, What makes you different from everyone else? It is you. I can talk to you about business models, but first you need to fill out your about page, your policy page, your shop announcements. Tell us your story, we want to hear about you. Otherwise, we can just buy anonymous garbage from overseas.

The GOOD: Your photos are great. There is consistency to your page. This is all important. Hope this helps.
