I hope they don't get rid of PayPal- some people prefer it and they should have the option. I've actually seen a small decline in sales since adding DC, but I don't think it's related, and I think I've had more DC sales than PayPal sales. But as others have said, how can we know. I've found Etsy's fee waiving promotion a little misleading. It's my understanding that we will still owe Etsy fees, just not the payment processing fees for this month.

And if I was a non US seller, I would be very upset about not being able to use DC. Sure, it might be complicated for Etsy, but it seems quite unfair, especially since only DC sellers will be able to do the gift cards.

Has paypal changed? I keep seeing comments that paypal doesn't offer international but I have used them for an international order before. It's the same as domestic, I print out the shipping label plus the customs form, which I sign and handed to the clerk.
This was last May-June. I haven't tried to buy postage online since but the Paypal Ship Now link let me ship international. So that is still an option even if they do pay DC.
I' have to say that I'm less than thrilled that being in Australia means I can't benefit from DC! I am pretty sure that it would help my sales, as I have been asked by customers in the past if they could pay via other means. I'm totally unimpressed with Etsy right now.
Liz from 3LittlePixiesShoppe says "At this time, you can't search on Etsy for shops who are accepting it vs. shops that aren't, so there is no way to tell for sure that you wouldn't have made the sale otherwise. The buyer doesn't even know DC is a payment option until they click on the item in search and then scroll all the way to the bottom or until they add the item to the cart. " ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Well now there is a way - Since gift cards are automatically tied to DC and only DC and Etsy's search has a check box to "show only shops that accept Etsy Gift Cards" then buyers who are only interested in direct checkout have a way to see/browse/shop only those items and shops. To some buyers it may make all the difference. I finally decided to give it a bash - here's hoping it makes a difference. :) *fingers crossed* Bobbi
Over half of my sales come through Direct Checkout. I can't say for sure whether it has increased my sales or not because it became available to me shortly after I opened my shop. I love it and would highly recommend it.

Same here. I have customers enquire about this quite a lot, and I hate having to tell them I can't offer this option. Along with the gift cards, international sellers are getting a bit of a rubbish deal at the moment!

My sales have been dead - but my husband's shop which is newer (Visual ReMix) I think he had maybe 2 or 3 people pay with PayPal, and the rest have pretty much been direct check out.

I love it. I would say about 95% of my sales are from DC, so I can' t complain. Plus, I love that people will be able to use the Gift Cards at my shop. :)

What about at tax time? Is it going to be a pain to collect sales info from Paypal and my bank? Is it going to be annoying to have Etsy sales mixed in with my and my husbands personal account? I guess I don't want to bother with the added confusion, at this time. My items are sort of unique of Etsy, so if a customer puts one of my beds in their cart, I doubt they are going say "never mind, forget it" just because they have to go through Paypal. IMO

I use www.outright.com for tax things and it sorts everything out in one place. This is my first year at etsy, but I showed outright to my accountant and she said outright was a great and easy way for her to navigate and it does the work for you. :)

I use Outright too, but they won't work with the credit union we use. I always have to double check and fix the "uncategorized" transactions in outright too, so I'd then have to check those against 2 accounts:( Is there a different free accounting-type service out there?
