HELP!

I have been working tirelessly on my shop, making new items, taking photos, reading the forums, working on social networking and so on and so forth.

But the last few days I have been completely mentally blocked. Every new item idea I have turns our miserable, I haven't had any ideas for new treasuries, and social networking makes me want to gag! These are things I usually love, especially working on new items.

Does anyone have any tricks of getting rid of my creative block and getting my excited back for my shop?

Take a break! Sometimes stepping away is the best refresher for a creative mind! Good luck to you!

V & M are spot on...sit quietly & listen to the still small voice within...that is your intuition you will hear next, & that IS never wrong!

Re: HELP!

It's the Holidays I bet. Its usually an overwhelming time for most of us.

Sometimes the best things happen when you let things go.

Re: HELP!

Spend some time cruising about the Etsy store and looking at the amazingly unique and creative items that are available. I find that enjoying other's crafts gets me in the mood to work on my own designs. Also it is a "break"
Good luck and keep your socks up!

Re: HELP!

My tip is take a break. Go for a walk, call up a friend you haven't talked to in ages, etc.

I went through the same thing a couple months ago!! Stepping away for a little while really helped me.

Good luck, have fun!! (:

Re: HELP!

I definitely agree, sometimes it's just time to take a break and just BE.

Re: HELP!

I think you need a break. Taking a walk in nature is the best. A long shower or bath. Get together with a friend. It's OK to take time off sometimes to recharge and renew.

Re: HELP!

All wonderful ideas!!
I usually go to a used book store or a music store (brick and mortar! help them out!!) and look for a cookbook or some new tunes. The browsing is very therapeutic. Then I find a great place to enjoy whatever I've bought (a grocery store getting ingredients, a new park bench to read or listen) that isn't anywhere near where I have been working or thinking. But, I love music and I love to eat! You may have other loves. The idea is to really put your brain into something else -- not just let it wander aimlessly (mine will invariably come back to my lack of creativity!!). You seem to have some energy that just needs to be pulled aside for awhile. Just another way to go at it.
You'll miss it soon enough and be right back where you want to be!

Re: HELP!

My tip is to go shopping! You don't have to buy anything, just make lists or take pictures of stuff you really love. Pinterest has been a HUGE source of inspiration for me. Have a home Spa day and take a bath - Pamper yourself with a mani/pedi, some scented oils and salts in the bath and some deep conditioning for your hair.

I used to take one day every other month to rent a cheap, clean hotel room and hole up with a bottle of wine, some chocolates and other junk foods and all my latest beauty products and my journal - Then I'd watch movies and indulge as much as possible.

Treating yourself well and immersing yourself in beautiful or yummy things might help remind you of what you love or help you find new things to love - because you deserve all that is lovely!

Re: HELP!

Well fist let me say your efforts are successful! Your shop looks great! I know I spent all day Sunday working on mine and reached a point that I was blocked too and pretty much haven't really messed with the shop since then. I have been reading the posts, and looking at other shops and cutting fabric to make new items. I know that the initiative for the next big jump will come, but I need to have something to do it with.

Just take a break on the shop and play with the stuff you sell in the shop! That will get those creative juices flowing again!
