CRITIQUE?

Hey everyone..

Sad I didn't get a critique on the last online lab.. it will happen soon!

Just wondering if some of you wouldn't mind checking out my jewelry shop and letting me know if there are things I can do, change, fix etc...

I don't take things personally if I don't think they were meant to be personal, so please don't be shy!

Thank you & Best,

Tessa @ www.etsy.com/shop/daisyTdesigns

Re: CRITIQUE?

You have beautiful items. I think the prices on some of them are low, especially the $8-$10 earrings.

Your descriptions seem a little cold and distant. Making them a little less technical may help.

I suggest re-thinking your policies. "All sales are final" is a turn off for a lot of people. Also, the policy idea of "once it's shipped, it's not my responsibility" is very negative as well. Both policies imply a lack of caring for the customer, which I'd imagine was not what you were aiming for.

Re: CRITIQUE?

you may want to consider changing your avatar to an item in your shop - I've found that it leads to more views of your shop because folks in the forum know what you sell right away and are more likely to click on your shop if they like what they see - I think either of these would be great avatars - you can use Piknik on the web to crop them down easily.

I really like the replys for Tessa by Ruth and Babs. I agree with them both and feel their suggestions were thoughtful and helpful - supportive too.
I would love some suggestions from you 3 about my shop - I'm new and having trouble getting momentum - need a spark from you very talented and experienced etsians!

Thanks. Jan

Re: CRITIQUE?

janfell -

I really like a lot of your pieces. They're so warm and inviting on their own, though, that I feel like the wood background in your photos is kind of sucking the life out of them. (If that makes any sense...) Their unique glazing hardly stands a chance against the grain of the wood or the shrubbery in the background.

As a mother of two dogs and no real children, my eyes immediatly went to your dog bowls, which are only a portion of your shop, but just a few thoughts on those...

Your dog bowls are awesome, but only one size. I'll give you my scenario, which other buyers may have as well: I have two dogs, and they have appropriatly size bowls - a 1 cup bowl for the Pomchi, and a 3 cup bowl for the Golden Retriever. The bowls match each other. I couldn't buy them matching bowls from your shop, though, because you only offer one size. So, I wouldn't buy a bowl at all, because I want their bowls to match.

You also don't mention how many characters the dog name can be. I looked at the names on your examples, and thought maybe only one of my dog's would fit. Try giving the customer more information - not just on the dog bowl but on everything else as well.

On your tumblers and bowls, I suggest listing individual pieces. As a shopper I like to know exactly what I'm getting. Your listings for these items are vauge. There's no way to tell what exactly you'll be getting. A lot of buyers will just move on to a shop that shows them the exact item.
