HELP! great stuff - hardly any traffic

Hi...we are new and really have terrific items, branding, packaging and feedback, but we really really want/need more traffic. What are some things you have done that have worked. Wishing & listing isn't working so well!!!

Re: HELP! great stuff - hardly any traffic

Hi there. I saw your post in the forum. My shop is just a few days old, and I've been spending time here in the forums. My advice would be to list more items. You do have nice items in your shop. Just make/list more of them. List at least one new item everyday, or renew your listings.

Become active in the forums. There are a lot of helpful people that want you to succeed as much as they do and they are willing to share their knowledge. Add people to your circle. A lot of times they add you to theirs and you get a lot of exposure to people in their circles.

Link to your listings outside of Etsy. Whether its on your blog, facebook or twitter. Also, I heard that if you add personal stuff about yourself, your buyers feel better knowing about who you really are... so even a small personal detail about yourself is good.

Another thing I would do is to crop your pictures because you can't see the whole bottle and because like I've learned, buyers can be lazy, they won't stop to look --they'll go to the next item that captures their attention.

Like I said, I'm new here too, but I'm learning. Hope some of this makes sense and helps.
Best of luck to you!

Re: HELP! great stuff - hardly any traffic

Hi MySoulFullHome,

Yes, you do have wonderful items, but I would suggest that you do some work on helping potential buyers find you.

Your shop title should include key words that reflect what you sell. It should NOT be your shop name.

The shop announcement also should contain words that reflect what you sell.

Both the shop title and the announcement will show up in a google search so unless I'm looking for a 'welcome to my shop' your shop probably won't show up very high in my search.

Titles can make the world of difference as well. When was the last time you absolutely had to have a 'canvas tote bag with chandelier'? Probably not very recently.

Use your sections wisely.

If it is a vintage item that you are selling then be sure to state the approximate date of the item and give a bit of the history behind the item.

The photos you have are good, but you have 5 photo slots for each item. Photos are the only way a buyer can see an item so be sure to take pics from all angles.

Some of your photos are a little bit on the dark side as well. You might find this tutorial useful.

Re: HELP! great stuff - hardly any traffic

hi ....i checked out your shop too and i agree with what other people have said above, but also you might consider with your bottles (vintage bottles with crystals) a different way of lighting in the photos...when your background (the wall) is a similar tone/color as the item which is clear or translucent, it makes most of the item blend into the background a little...what about a turquoise background, or in the grass, something that will make the majority of the item which is light/white/clear glass stand out more? just a thought...

also the more descriptive you are in your titles, with the most important words first, this can help people to find your items....what are a few other words people might associate with your items that you could include in the title...

you might want to consider, as i think someone suggested, zooming in some or cropping images a bit, for example vintage bottle with starfish, it's kind of hard to imagine what it is if i just glance at the thumbnail without looking at the description,,,,that one might be a good one to play around with more pops of color in the image or zooming in....you have some photos that have great pops of color and a lot of the glass bottle ones are kind of a neutral tone that dont make me want to click ....i would go with something a little brighter, but that's just me! anyone can disagree, i'm sure there are better/other suggestions!
