Got my first Commission!

I am super excited that I have finally gotten my first crochet commission. I feel as if this will open the doors to more custom orders.

How do you guys get custom orders? I wish I had more, and would love to know some tips.

Re: Got my first Commission!

Yay! First of all, congrats! I have noticed that my custom orders went up after I made a listing specifically for custom orders. My listing has pictures of other people's past orders as well as a drop-down menu for what to order and how much it would cost. In the description, however, I also mention that buyers should contact me for a more accurate price quote for items that aren't included in the drop-down menu. Word of mouth is important too. Many of my other custom orders have come from people who know someone who has gotten custom orders from me. Once you have a couple, you can build from there. In the past month it's relatively snow-balled for me with almost an equal amount of custom orders as regular orders between my etsy shop and physical location. Best of luck! :)

I get a lot of custom orders in my shop. I think its important to note in your existing listings that you are happy to customize your items to the customers preferences... color, size, shape, etc. I think having a good variety of items also helps customers to realize that you are creative and capable of working with them on something specific to them.

Congratulations, Kaela! People are definitely not shy about asking, in my experience, if they see something similar to what they are looking for.
