Google Adwords

Anyone use Google Adwords to advertise? I got a voucher for $75 worth of advertising so I figured I would give it a try!

Just wondering if anyone else has had any experience with Google Adwords?

Re: Google Adwords

As a career, I actually manage PPC (Adwords) and SEO for multi-million dollar clients. So, I have experience :)

Adwords is a WONDERFUL sales too. I myself have just started an Adwords account tonight with a similar voucher. For $75, you can't go wrong.

However, keywords in our niche tend to be expensive ($1.50- $2 per click), so $75 won't go very far. And, as a source you would pay for out of your own pocket eventually, I'm not sure it would give the return you'd need. But, that also does depend on the price of your items.

My advice is to give it a go. And be sure to set an end-date for your ads so that the credit doesn't run out and start charging your CC. If you're interested, I could do a blog post on initial set up "Do"'s and "Don't"'s for new users, if there's a request for it.

Good luck!

Re: Google Adwords

As studioeleven pointed out, make sure you set an end date. It can get expensive fast and without warning, especially if you're just figuring things out.

Re: Google Adwords

Various publications have them. You can get them for both Facebook AND Adwords. For March, I've seen ads in Entrepreneur and Wired. Go to B&N and flip through some business or tech magazines. They're usually in there. And I'll get on writing that blog post and I'll post it here when it's ready :)

Re: Google Adwords

StudioEleven11, a blog on this topic would be great. I have perhaps half of a $75 AdWords credit remaining and have definitely seen an increase in traffic as a result of using it, but the increase doesnt' seem to justify what I'd be paying out of pocket to continue Adwords, especially since - as you mention - the CPC (cost-per-click) is generally $1.50-2.00

Please let us know if you write something up! :)
Thanks,
Diana

Re: Google Adwords

SO maybe this is a tangent but I'm curently putting my blog together and everyone is reccomending adsense. I tried to apply for it a million times but I keep getting the domain ownership error with the little source code to put in my blogger html. I'm not too tech savy. If anyone knows what I am talking back, could you please message me? I'm driving myself crazy over this and I think it's easy but all the websites that I looked into for help keep rotating around the wrong details.

Thanks if anyone can help!

Re: Google Adwords

PrettyMuchDana, you should be able to get Adsense running just fine on Blogger, especially since it's a Google product. Msg me and I'll see if I can't help out more.

Re: Google Adwords

YOu can set your keywords for .10 cents and see how many impressions and clicks you get. Then slowly increase it.

Re: Google Adwords

Would love to learn more about using AdWords! I'm definitely interested but it seems so intimidating. I don't want to throw my money at something that I'm not ready for or knowledgeable about.

Re: Google Adwords

So, maybe this is a dumb question, but should I wait to purchase adwords or other advertising If I'm in the process of editing all my listings for SEO? I mean, should your individual listings be absolutely perfect before you buy adwords?

Re: Google Adwords

That's not a dumb questions. You should have your listings optimized. Although SEO won't affect your ability to generate visits to your website, certain aspects of SEO, like descriptions and listing titles, will definitely affect your conversion rate. The things to have ready to go are (in order of importance):

1. Good pictures
2. Accurate titles
3. Informative descriptions
4. Completed store policies
5. Completed bio

The rate that you convert visits into sales.
