Getting the First 100 Sales

Hi Everyone!

I am new here and I was wondering if anyone has any tips for me on getting my first 100 sales.

I know that before I started my shop I was personally weary of purchasing items from someone who was new and instead preferred to go with a seasoned seller with many sales and reviews.

Some of the things I have been working on are:
*Creating unique and personalized invitations and banners
*Fixing my images by making them high quality and consistent (still working on this)
*Offering incentives such as quick shipping turnaround and sales for the holidays
*Fixing tags and SEO
*Social media marketing

I know the wedding market is quite saturated, but I see particular shops that are making a killing with 4 week turnaround times and their product is comparable to mine.

Please let me know if you have any more suggestions to assist.
Thank you for your help!!!

Tracey

If there was such a thing as a short description on how to get your first 100 sales (which assumes every shop will have at least 100+ sales somewhere in the near future...) some Etsy sellers would have gotten filthy rich selling it.

I'm afraid you will have to use your own talents, dedication and a lot of hard work to get there, just like every other Etsy seller.

Re: Getting the First 100 Sales

Your shop looks great I really like your items. Yes the wedding market is very saturated but it is also a billion dollar industry so if you have a good product, people will buy it. Its just about getting yourself out there. Market yourself on pintrest like crazy, and social media in general. Try sending out samples of your items to some of the wedding sites and blogs out there (such as the knot). It may take a few tries to get noticed but if you do it will be worth it! Maybe even try starting your own blog.

Also a very important point- you need more items in your shop. Shops that get noticed more have more products. It has been said that to have consistent traffic you should have at least 100 items in your shop. I would defintiely suggest coming up with new products or creating more variations of the products you already sell and adding individual listings for each variation so you are out there more in the searches.

Good luck keep at it! Don't forget to have patience, Etsy takes a lot of hard work and a lot of time to grow.

Re: Getting the First 100 Sales

Thank you so much for the kind words and encouragement! I will absolutely keep it up and work on putting up some more listings.

I'd love to start a blog and I have been trying to write about my own wedding experiences as they come up!

PS I love your items as well :)

Re: Getting the First 100 Sales

I opened a new Etsy shop just over 3 months ago and with only using the right SEO and a pricing strategy, have made over 90 sales. It can be done.

Start with Keyword Research to find the keywords that will work in getting your listings seen as much as possible by shoppers looking for what you are selling.

Re: Getting the First 100 Sales

Any advice on my shop would be appreciated. I opened in November and have been getting some views ( I try to follow all the tips I am reading, posting on social media, joining teams and stuff) I have tried to use keywords to the best of my knowledge (but I am just a newbie, not sure if I am doing it right) Any advice/feedback would be like Christmas presents right now.

Re: Getting the First 100 Sales

There is a lot of SEO advice in the Etsy forums that is either very basic or just plain wrong and does not help your shop much with making sales. It takes a long time to learn really good SEO, to try and test your SEO efforts, make changes and test again. SEO is hard to learn and a lot of work. Someone giving a quick look at your shop does not have the time to delve into the depths of your segment of the market or do the extensive research to find the SEO that will work for your shop.

Spend a lot of time on keyword research and choosing keywords to try and test on both Etsy and Google. I have found the best keywords using the free Google Adwords Keyword Planner. There is a thread on my SEO Team with step by step instructions on using the Keyword Planner: https://www.etsy.com/teams/11352/relevancy-and-seo-for-all-etsy-shops/discuss/13988472/
