Hi Team,

Many of you have already heard – Etsy search now defaults by relevancy. HeyMichelle and I are working on a blog post to help you get the most out of this change. In addition to this great post by Natalie, "Putting Your Shop on Top : Etsy’s Most Relevant Search"
http://www.etsy.com/blog/en/2011/putting-your-shop-on-top-etsy%E2%80%99s-most-relevant-search/

Michelle and I will select a few of you to use as real life examples to explain how you can best optimize your search position. Let us know if you think you need help below – and tell us a bit about how you're already worked to optimize your shop with the tips above, so we can see what is and isn't working for you!

I'll pop back in this thread to let you know when we have enough submissions and when the blog post will go live!

Best,
Danielle

Yes, please. I would like some help. I will have a new banner soon and redoing my pictures as soon as I can do them. I am looking at shop stats to help with titles and tags. But still...Thank you for any help you can provide.

I've been working very hard on SEO and key words. I would LOVE the help please.

I am making sure to put key words at the front of my title, getting very descriptive and adding as many tags as possible in the first paragraph, gotten a little creative with tag words to capture small and large searches, I try to make sure that I'm using words or phases that a buyer would use to purchase each piece and every title is different.

Since I've made these changes i have seen some people have found me on google searches and other searches outside of Etsy but I would love to know if there is more I can do. I'm always eager to learn and have no problem getting critiqued (or torn apart) publicly.

Thanks for your time.

This thread has been very helpful. Thank you to all who have posted to it and to daniellexo for starting it.

after reading through your postings, I have noticed more errors in my titles and tags that I will be correcting over the next month to come.

Such as: I have been nick-naming the product first and then discribing it in the title like this..Fried Pickles - Ultra Mini 5-Pk.

It should be: Note Cards / Ultra Mini 5-Pk - Fried Pickles

Thanks again for all who have shared their insight in regards to this on this team!

I'm a new seller and would love any advice on my shop! I've tried to use the most relevant titles and robust descriptions. I know my pics need work, but what else can I do?? I'd love, love, love help and advice!

I am working at increasing my potential buyer views of my items and also make some sales! I emailed friends and relatives for critiques on my listings interest and readability, photo views and any way they think would make my shop more appealing. I got some great advice which I am putting to work as soon as I make a couple more pieces....I just can't help myself.
Thanks for your review of my shop and any advice you can give me.

Oh! and I just remembered....I will loan some of my friends/relatives some pieces of my items to wear out in public to show my work when they go out with their friends to dinner, clubs, etc. When any of their friends then go to my site and make a purchase, I will give an item to the person who had shown a piece of my jewelry and referred my shop..."word of mouth", ya know.

I would love some help (and desperately need it! I've had an active shop for over a year now and no sales! Luckily I sell at a brick & mortar shop too!)!

I've been using the new tags, and believe my titles are clear, but I don't have many views. The Shop Stats are very helpful but I'm falling short somewhere.

I would really appreciate your professional flair.
Please and Thank you!

I know that there are SOME people looking at my work, and even buying it, but I need more...
I've read all of the articles and have spent many hours tagging and re- tagging each month in accordance with the merchandising tips. I've been in some treasuries ( thank you, thank you!) but no one on etsy's team has featured my work yet.
I feel INVISIBLE and would love to have a relevancy analysis. Pretty please?

I've been changing my titles and tags, Watched the online lab video which was very helpful. Still don't get it though.

How can blah blah blah blah alice in wonderland dictionary print be more relevant than Alice In Wonderland dictionary print? I've been putting Alice in Wonderland as the first word of my titles, but listings with lots of words before alice are more relevant.

Hello,
I am excited about the change and have implemented many of the suggestions. I have put keywords at the front of the title, I have changed and improved tags and tweaked a little more here and there.
However, I sell vintage handbags and have the words: vintage handbag(s) and vintage purse(s) a zillion, (well, almost) times and yet when I go to vintage and search handbags, I am not in the first pages, yet, if I go to all items and type vintage handbags or vintage purses, I am all over the place.
Still a little confused.
any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
JK

Hi everyone!

Thank you for volunteering your shop and your time in this thread. We've chosen a range of sellers to look at (we wanted to represent a range of sales, categories and experience). I think you'll find these helpful even if your shop isn't picked. You can see the first few in our Online Labs library here: http://www.etsy.com/community/online-labs

Sorry we couldn't help everyone, but hopefully, if we pick a range of sellers, you'll find the tips we share valuable!

Best,
Danielle
