Hi Team,

Many of you have already heard – Etsy search now defaults by relevancy. HeyMichelle and I are working on a blog post to help you get the most out of this change. In addition to this great post by Natalie, "Putting Your Shop on Top : Etsy’s Most Relevant Search"

I have a shop that is active with visits and sales. It seems like things have dropped off since the switch. As a visual artist - 2d paintings & prints- I'd love some help with the challenge of arrange titles in a relevant, but attractive way.

This question may have already been asked, but I couldn't find an answer. What is the benefit to renewing items if it no longer matters because it now defaults to relevency?

I have changed my titles to be more descriptive, changed my tags, and still a little frustrated.

I could really use help. I mostly sell soap; natural with nothing artificial, which sounds good but does not translate visually. I too wonder about renewing if that is not how the search finds us.

Hello! I would love to have you take a look at my shop. I've been working on adjusting my titles and tags to become more relevant and think I'm getting closer to where I need to be. I have also asked other people what they would search for if they were looking for one of my items and the responses were things I would not have thought of, and I have incorporated that into my listing process. I think that sorting by relevancy is a great idea (I know that is what I want when I'm shopping) but it will take a bit of time for a lot of us to get it right. I hope to see positive results soon from the changes I've been making and wish everyone else the best with adjusting to the change :)

I'm very new to etsy, I know little. I kind of understand keywords. I try to keep it simple but descriptive. I am already working out an order with a customer on my second day. I have been working on friending other shops that favorite me, but don't really understand the in's and out's of etsy yet.I appreciate that you will help. My work is kind of less common. Do you recommend I define it as art or another selection. Because some are wall art, others are better known as book boxes or furniture. But, it's all about the art for me.I feel I kind of fell through the cracks on defining my creations. I have connected to one person on here that we have merged our work before. Is that the best way to go?

I just opened my shop last month and find the search engine subject fascinating and overwhelming at the same time. I also feel there is a feeling of tagging which is so sterile. I would like to add personality to my tags and at the same time get found! Please help!

I've tried bits of everything. I'm probably over analyzing my stats! lol.

i"ve changed my titles to be more relevant.

I've checked tags to make sure they are only one word...or two words that would be searched for together.

The field of jewelry is SO HARD to stand out in. I have tried and monitored so many things, but nothing seems to be working. i'm frustrated :(

I would love to be an example. I would love any insight and ideas you can offer. thanks in advance for always trying to stay on top of everything.

I think I am in a rare predicament...I have no problem getting into shops and boutiques in Portland, Oregon but for some reason I just can't make Etsy work for me. I have tried adding more tags, taking better photos, renewing items, buying showcases and still I have only had 7 sales. On the other hand, my products sell like hotcakes in stores and that has been extremely successful for me. I basically use Etsy as a place for shop owners to go to to see my products and decide what they want to order. And that is great, but I would really love to get more exposure and more actual Etsy sales. And help or feedback would be so wonderful!! Thanks awesome Etsy crew! :)

My paintings sell...but slowly. Lots of folks seem to put me into their treasuries, and for that I am happy. I have changed some of the tags. I have added$$ to the paintings and excluded shipping cost. Still, it is slow.Are people buying things like jewelry and useful items? Do I need to relist more often? There are a lot of fantastic sellers out there, which is good, but competitive.

I just cannot seem to get my listings seen. I am adding new items daily and my view numbers seem to be sitting still, in the single digits only. I obviously am doing something wrong and I just cannot figure out how to make it better.

On all of my name signs, big and small, I've changed around the order of my titles, reworked some of my descriptions, and changed some of my tags. I'm definitely showing up better in the search results based on relevancy but I'd still be grateful for any help anyone has to offer.

Everyone says my signs are cute but somehow I just can't seem to turn browsing into buying. Any and all help would be appreciated!

hola etsy chica!

it's been just about a month since i started my shop here on etsy and i honestly couldn't be happier with the result. i've sold 3 items and am hopefully to keep this momentum for days and months and years to come. with that being said, i've been slowly looking through all the etsy success tip, changed tags, descriptions, joined teams, watched numerous labs, etsy tv, process show, non place like home videos, created treasurers for exposure (and heck it's uber fun) even harnessed the in photographer in me to post better photos to showcase my items. it's been such a great learning experience, but quite honestly a little daunting too. so much to consider, understand and implement.

but even with all the unknown, i'm really proud that i've taken this leap to etsy-ize myself and business. i would completely enjoy to be concerned for review and am open to any constructive improvements i can make to my shop.

I would also love to get help with this. I have just changed all of my listing titles and added new photographs this week. I'm hoping to see an improvement with this. I'm still unsure about the best tags to use for my items and would love some help. So far I have only sold one item, so I'm really trying everything I can to get it out there and improve on that. :)

I would so love your advice on my little shop. I am still busy designing more party stationery collections. Two of my collections sell well but like all etsy sellers I need more sales. I have changed a lot of the key words and I'm following my stats. Any advice would be fantastic.

I could really use some sound advice. I have updated, relisted, added new items, advertised online, had discount sales and I have a blog. I just feel like no one sees me. I am lost in etsy land. I see other sellers who have hundreds of views and sales and I just cannot figure out how they do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Danielle, Wow, apparently I'm not the only one who thinks they need help! I feel I have done the best I can with Titles, tags and shop announcement. My product is something that is not sold in retail and is basically an unknown item. It is NOT a decorated shoe, it is a removable accesssory for sandals and other items, but is NOT a shoe clip. So, I'm sure that it is not something that is searched for using the search field in Etsy, or even on search engines.

As for recency, I am struggling to keep my home and can't renew a bunch of listings every day. I go in periodically to renew a couple items, but because I think people don't understand what it is from the picture alone, I'm afraid I'm throwing money away.

I've been told to create a blog and to follow blogs in order to get people to notice my shop, but to be honest, I just don't get the blog thing and am not sure I could create something interesting enough for people to read, at least over a long period of time. I'm considering advertising on Indie Fixx or some other blogs, but not sure if the ad will actually work. Again, I'm afraid to spend the money on something I can't be sure of. I know, it takes money to make money! Ugh, what's a finance-challenged girl to do?

Hi! I have tried very hard to tag my items appropiately and with words that a buyer would use. I've re-worked my titles too, putting the most relevent info in the beginning. I'm getting a modest amount of views, but not many sales....help! What can I improve??

Aloha,
I really don't know how to optimize my exposure. I can sit and create all day but am terrible at selling. I think, perhaps, jewelry is a tough sell. I'd like to be able to present my jewelry in the best light possible.
If I don't get chosen, I'll pay attention and try to learn from you. I've seen a couple of your videos, and I know I can learn.
