Facebook and Twitter

So I just set up FB and twitter for my shop. I would love some advice on how to build up a following. Also what do you post to keep everyone interested. I am a bit overwhelmed about where to start with social media so any tips would be really appreciated.

Re: Facebook and Twitter

for twitter, i have found if you follow people, a bunch will follow back. join some teams that are sort of a follow back thing. use hashtags in twitter so your tweets will be seen by others talking about a topic. learn what your favorite people post on twitter, and facebook, and do similar things.

Re: Facebook and Twitter

Thanks Ashley for the tip. I wounder what people do beyond initially getting their friends and family to like them.

I don't think that I can post a link to my FB page here since this team is not for self promotion. I did check out your store and liked you from there.

Re: Facebook and Twitter

Hi Elizabeth! For starters, go to www.facebook.com/username and get your shortened url. Then put that url everywhere! Make it easy for people to "like" you and they usually will :) Then start talking! Post things that will engage your fans and make them want to respond and follow along. If you blog, post the url for your new blog post on your facebook page. If you use Pinterest, put your facebook page url on there. Just have fun with it!

Re: Facebook and Twitter

You should definitely link your Facebook to Twitter. It'll save you some time going back and forth (facebook.com/twitter).

When tweeting your listings be sure to use hashtags like #handmade #etsy #handmadebot etc. When tweeting in general you can use any of the trending hashtags or make your own.

If you check out the categories in Twitter and follow a few people you're interested in you'll notice that people will follow you based off that.

Re: Facebook and Twitter

I like to keep fb and separate since I personally hate myself seeing links on twitter that are all just to a facebook page. It's really aggrevating.

I tend to do similar posts to both product wise, but twitter I keep more personal.

Re: Facebook and Twitter

Thanks for all the advice. I have seen people use that #handmadebot tag before/ What does the bot part mean?
