Facebook Ads?

Hi all!

I'm new to Etsy and loving it, but with a target market that is more in line to drink beers and play with powertools rather than surf the net I'm finding it hard to pull in views especially now that I have made friends with the other males on here. (No offense to the beer drinkin', tool totin' ladies).

Has anyone had success with Facebook Ads? I have a weak FB page with a few likes from close friends, but has anyone tried the ads? I know you can get fairly specific, but that’s all I know.

Are the worth the cost? How much do they cost? Anything good or bad? Any tips?

I did a quick search and did not see much on the topic, so I’m looking forward to some feedback. Also, is there anything else that you would suggest before these ads?

Cheers,

- Jake C.

I'm currently debating about trying the ads... by BF has been pretty convincing. The link above is one I found off facebook about, and that's what I would be looking for. Off facebook info.

I am interested as well. I have a FB page I am still struggling with. I think my few friends are tired of me pondering my shop =), and I was wondering if the ads would bring in some much needed business. I believe I am going to try them in January or February.

Re: Facebook Ads?

What a great question - thanks to everyone for the links. I would have thought ads would be really expensive. Something to consider!

Thanks for the links, Maria and Tiia! I am trying to decide if I should run them, too.

Re: Facebook Ads?

I was struggling with that as well...having only 10 "likes" for my artist facebook page. We had tried the FB ads for my husband's web design company last year and didn't find it helpful at all...and, quite frankly, kind of expensive for what you get. Instead of doing the FB ads for my painting business, I just posted on my personal facebook page for everyone to spread the word about "liking" my artist page. My likes went up from 10 to 52 in like 6 hours...and in turn I had more views to my etsy shop. I find FB most helpful by just getting the word out about whatever you are up to. I'll post a link to your page...try to get the word out about your beer tools. I have a lot of friends that are really into beer and I'm sure they'll love it!

Re: Facebook Ads?

Jacob, do you have a YouTube video of opening a bottle with one of your beer tools? I get quite a few hits on my shop from YouTube, and I think your items would lend themselves well to a short video clip.

Re: Facebook Ads?

I started a new FB page solely for my patterns and had an ad running for just a week. It was fantastic! I got tons of 'likes' from people who actually wanted to see my patterns and have since purchased them, not just spammy likes or those "like me and I'll like you" type of likes. Worth looking at! Good luck! :-)

Re: Facebook Ads?

Tool totin', Pepsi drinkin' lady here,

I've tried my hand at both facebook and google ads, neither of which brought me sales. Maybe a few extra views at the most. With items like yours (awesome by the way) I would suggest trying to get you name out by going to automotive flea markets. There's a HUGE one in Carlisle, PA twice a year (a few more smaller ones too) where I know you would probably sell out. I took some of my jewelry there in April and did better in 2 days just sitting back there than I did in a year of promoting here like there was no tomorrow.

Might I add that for being open for only 2 weeks you are doing INCREDIBLY well so far...

Great thread! I have been considering ads too but thought they'd be way too expensive! Something to consider for the new year
