Etsy ads : worth it or not ?

I have been wondering if the Etsy Ads are worth it or not. Does anyone have feedback on them ?

I wouldn't pay a PENNY for anything that is supposed to give me exposure on this site. Etsy changes the search constantly. And they have a bad habit of messing with the search even before the busy Xmas period.

Your items are not showing on Google on their own as they are grouped under 'Etsy Marketplace'. Working on your SEO on this site is waste of time.

To recap, no, I wouldn't recommend paying anything. You'd be better off investing money and time on your own business...like paying for your own website, buying better materials, working on new ideas...etc.

Well I don't know about the ads but I did work on my SEO and I get a lot of traffic from Google. I don't agree that it's not worth it.

Working on SEO is not a waste of time (at least not in my experience -- I've gotten mannnny more sales and much more Google traffic after investing time in my SEO).

Etsy Ads, however, I've not found worth it. I've tried it myself a couple different times (both before I had decent SEO and after I revamped my SEO and was getting regular purchases) and it has never seemed worth the $$. Some people say it is, but many say it's not. I'm sure it depends.

Thank you Bee, that is good to know. I seem to have lost a number of views and sales since they stopped the treasuries so I am looking into other avenues. I know the old paying ads didn't work, I wondered about the new ones but most likely I'll pass.

I've found selectively using Etsy ads to be effective for me. I tend to use ads for items where there is a lot of competition. I set a relatively low daily budget and monitor results periodically. I've been using them for 6 months or so and plan to continue.
