Etsiers that are Bloggers

I am getting my blog redesigned and my designer and I have come to a sort of cross roads. She insists on something being on my blog while I hesitate. It is a normal thing for bloggers to have.

The only problem being that my blogs #1 purpose is to promote my handmade business. So if you blog can you leave a link or your blogs name so that I can check it out.

Its just for a little research.

Also if you don't necessarily blog but enjoy blogs, what do you find most important when you look at a blog as far as the layout and the information (not the blog posts) that are found on the blog page (ie social networks, how to share, search bar, how to receive newsletters, etc). I hope that makes sense

Or even if you know of an etsier that is also a blogger that you admire that would be great too!

This is my blog
hhtp://www.onthesunnyside.nl

What I like in other blogs, is information. I like to learn something.
I try to give information for free, build folowers that way. For now I am not sure how 'deep' readers would like to go into a subject..

Re: Etsiers that are Bloggers

My blog is very separate from my shop. But you can check out my layout. My layout is very much my doing with some input from my designer.

I will not read a blog if it looks disorganized or if it is hard to figure out what is going on. I actually left a blog the other day and didn't re-pin because I could find out nothing about the blogger/blog. Just a bunch of posts. I didn't trust that it was her own work, not stealing a bunch of other people's stuff. I need to know the blogger is a person.

Re: Etsiers that are Bloggers

My blog isn't fancy. It is just a place where I put information out there on vintage clothing and promote my website and my etsy shop. I just used a ready made template from google. I didn't pay someone to design it.

Re: Etsiers that are Bloggers

I don't know if you refer only to those blog which promote their Etsy shop or not..Anyway, I am a food blogger...I don't know if this could be helpful for you:

For me is very important that a blog have a good and minimal design. I promote my posts on twitter, fb, scoop it and pinterest...

Re: Etsiers that are Bloggers

I've gone and checked everyones blogs! Thanks so much for sharing them so that I can get a feel for what others are doing. I follow closely those in the DIY and sewing industry bloggers, but none of them really promote a handmade business as well.

Re: Etsiers that are Bloggers

Bobbie, I have a blog and I also write about needle arts for Examiner. The focus of my blog is to promote my shop but in an organic way. I like to give my readers information about caring for knit and crocheted items and I try to tie it into what I am selling on Etsy. For Examiner, I usually write about crochet

Re: Etsiers that are Bloggers

My blog is only one piece of my business's overall website. The majority of the posts are about my new burlap bag designs, but I also strive to show a bit of behind the scenes on the process of making the bags along with general sewing projects and tips. I also use it to spread word about my other social media networks - such as Facebook and Pinterest.

Feel free to check it out. I am no expert by any means, and I am still learning as I go! I'd love any feedback as well.

Bobbie,

This is Gertie's blog, http://www.blogforbettersewing.com/. I've been following her blog for several years.

I hope it helps.

Re: Etsiers that are Bloggers

I'm going to start a blog soon too, so this is an interesting thread! I bought http://openquotedesigns.com a few years back, and have been redirecting it straight to my Etsy shop, but I'll use it for my own website very soon (hopefully this month!). I'm using a Weebly template, and since I know CSS and HTML, am happily customising it to suit my needs.

Also, if you want to see, I have a personal blog at http://openquotedesigns.com that I have been running for seven years. :)

Re: Etsiers that are Bloggers

Hi,

I don't have a blog, but I love to read them. I especially like them if they have step by step tutorials or links, that help me in some way.

I know this is off the subject, but probably in the right place since its about blogs. I would love to be featured in someones blog, I've had several people ask but no one really ever followed through:(

Thanks

Good luck on your blog!
