Does your shop need a Relevancy Critique??

Hi Etsy Success Friends,

All of us have been like little sponges, soaking up the tips for success this week. Sometimes we just need a fresh pair of eyes to look at our shop and say - "Hey, you forgot to use this tag!" or "You might try this title!"

The rules:
1. You are at least moderately up-to-date with the suggestions for Relevancy and
good tagging < http://www.etsy.com/teams/7716/announcements/discuss/8822575/>

2. If you pop into this thread and want to be critiqued yourself, you can join by critiquing the last shop that commented. The next person to pop in will critique you.

3. You don't have to look at every listing and every tag. . . but try to come up with a few suggestions . . .Words or Synonyms that you think would help with relevancy search.

Scraptrapped. I love your store sineage. I love your pictues too. It gets right to the point and so eye pleaseing. I really love your dog hat! I have personally never sold anything with under the crochet listing or with the word crochet in it. If you look in your shop stats it will tell you what a buyer used as key words to find your item. I try to use this in my titles and tags. Sometimes I list mine twice in two different sizes with two different tittles. If your are selling photo props use baby photo baby or photography prop in the tittle. I had a hammock in my shop for about two year. It never moved. I changed the tittle from crochet hammock to Baby Photography Prop and sold it immediatly. I do hope this makes since. You have so many cute things. Great job!!

Hi Connie. You critque the one ABOVE your comment, so on page 60. The first page is the people who responded first and have already been critiqued. I will critique you and can someone please offer me some help and critique me too? I would SUPER appreciate any ideas on pictures, tags, and styles. Hi Jennifer/redostrich,

Your shop is super cute and your photos look great. I have read that combining words in tags is helpful in improving relevancy in the search. So rather than just "feather" and "headband" try "feather headband" or "feather accessories", etc. I find the style thing really hard to pin down, so perhaps try a few and see which listings get the most views. Hey Sarah (sadiedesignsca). I think your descriptions are great, they are very detailed. You make great use of your tags as well. I noticed in your shop welcome that you spelled "jewelry" both ways. I have found sometimes that when I can't think of another tag, putting in one spelled "jewellery" can get more hits. Your photos are great overall, but there were a few that were a touch out of focus, and those were the main pictures for the items. I think it was only two or three. I know I though manual focus would be great on my camera when I got it, but it seems to be a pain, and auto-focus is not that smart a lot of the time, either! Overall, though, your pictures are well-lit and the closeups are just great!

Your descriptions are good but your pics could be better. I think they would show off your piece more if it was a solid background. maybe you want to combine words in your tags example - blue green necklace, pearl bracelet

I think that your titles could use a little work. Try including the color of your product in the title. Like Jar Topper in Green, or Jar Topper - Green Housewares. Something like that. Maybe add lilac to your blankets. Maybe also put crochet in your titles, see if it shows up in search more often.

You might also want to think about taking advantage of your material tags.

One other thing is that some of the photography is somewhat distracting. I want to feel like I am buying a new product, but when I see some of your items on your counter looking out into your yard, or on your plaid chair, I feel like those items are just laying around your house until I buy them. The quality of the photos is good, I just think as a buyer I would prefer more of a neutral background.

LOVE what you have in your shop! The wire wrapped necklaces are a favorite of mine.

I noticed you repeated jewelry, necklaces, beach and wedding so you might want to change those tags to something like gift, girls, anniversary, birthday so it reaches a broader audience.

I am adding your shop to my favorites because this is the type of jewelry I like a lot!

I visited your shop too & think its an adorable shop :)
The masks are a little pricey but may be that me & I cant represent the views of a general audience. They are cute indeed and I'm marking your shop as fav to remember it for my Nephew's nest Birthday Party!

Why do you have only one picture of the mask? Why dont you use the 5 pictures that Etsy allows you to upload? You can also try getting little kids modelling your stuff. That gives a great impact I feel. I myself want to do that for my products but its difficult to get adults than kids you know :)

I'm gonna make one treasury for fall / halloween. I'll surely include one of your items.

@Nezihe1 There are many informational blogs that will help you to determine how to tag and title. Like this one. http://www.etsy.com/blog/en/2007/guidelines-tips-tagging-on-etsy/. I understand that you want some help with yours as well, but you need to learn a little by reading and then do your best to help the person before you brainstorm. It is only fair, this way no one gets skipped.

@Amberstudios Sorry you got skipped! It is frustrating no?

What style would you say that your clothing is? I think that it is all very unique and hard to pin down (Maybe whimsy or fantasy), but if you find your niche audience you could be selling a lot more of it. Your titles are generally pretty good, but you might want to put the colors in there for treasury search and for those who know what they are looking for.

It also might be worth your while to try titles like, "The Most Unique Cashmere Scarf on Etsy - Size Small Medium." See if unique titles get your unique clothing anymore hits.

I think putting three different descriptors for what each product is becomes a little confusing and impersonal. Try picking the most searched for one. Long wool SCARF / SHAWL / Wrap with ruffles- could be called "Textured Wool Scarf with Blue and Green Accents"

@DancyCreations: did you critique the person before you? That's how this thread works. I just visited your shop and I think you've done an excellent job on tags and on repeating title words in your description. On some of your titles, though, I would put the key words first. For instance "hair bows" should be the first two words in your listings for those. "Baby blanket" should be the first two words for those listings. You have some nice things. Good luck.

I definitely feel like I am in desperate need of a critique! My sales aren't going as well as I would like them to be going... and someone a couple of days ago just complimented me on my shop and said my shop looked successful and then asked me for advice... I did the best I could but I told her I also wasn't where I wanted to be right now. I would love thorough advice on my shop! Thanks so much!!

Great job ! Your tags are always different and give people a lot of chance to find you !
I prefer the complex titles with Feather Necklace included, as Feather Necklace - only in the beginning. Because from now on, the most important thing for your listing is the 3 first words of your title.
As your shop is 10 days old, I'm sure you will soon have some sales !!

I respectfully ask for critiquing and advice.. I have redone lots of pics using a light box, (still have some to do), and have tried to entitle my listing using relevency as well as changed up some tags.

Also, my views don't seem to change when I look at my shop list of items. I do see item favorites change when I look at an individual item, but the view number doesn't change when people favorite one of my items from a team listing.

I don't really like relevency and feel like I am getting alot less view and exposure.

This then is why I am asking for your help... please... and thankyou..

I like how you have variety in your shop. Your Banner, which, by the way, is very cool, but I can hardly read the title of your shop. As for the tagging, (looking at the Fire King Loaf Pan) mabye try having Vintage Kitchen in the tagging and title.
