Does putting your shop name in the tag really work? I heard some advice that in tags, you should put your etsy name, and your shop name, as it helps people find you better, and I have started doing it to some of my items. Is it worth it in the long run, what do you think? :)

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

If it's in your tags, a Google search will produce results that links to a page show your items and the # of items. Once I saw that I started putting my shop name in almost every listing.

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

hmm, interesting idea. It never occurred to me to include my shop name in the tags, but it's worth trying. Thanks!

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

I include my shop name only if I dont get anything related to the listing. I started including only after I saw that my shop is being searched too. Now I see my shop name everyday in the keywords.

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

Yes, it does work. I don't have business cards made yet, so I am always telling people to either google my shop name or check me out on etsy. My listings come up instead of just my shop. And it helps if people look you up without choosing "shop" in the drop down menu.

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

I put my shop name as a tag on all my items. According to my stats, I did have people search using my shop name.

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

None of my items were tagged with my shop name so I wanted to see what would happen if I searched for it anyway. I typed in "wethreebees" in the search bar and didn't change the category to shops. An empty search came up that said, "Did you mean the shop WeThreeBees?" You could click on the link to my shop! So it seems that it's only worth tagging with misspellings or separating words like: we three bees, etc.

I won't tag with "wethreebees" if it's that easy to find me on etsy... Maybe just "we three bees".

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

I have my shop name in all my tags and it's one of the top searches for my shop, so I guess it must help!

I also have 'jewellery' spelt the UK way in all my tags - not sure if anyone else does this, but that also seems to help UK buyers find my items!

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

I put my shop name, with spaces, in some of my listings in case people enter it that way in a search, but definitely not all - takes up valuable tag space.

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

Much of my business comes from word of mouth and folks who are brand new to Etsy and/or not the most savvy at shopping online - they typically navigate to my shop by typing my shop name into the search bar and clicking on one of the items I've tagged specifically for that purpose! It works for me - but that's probably due to my clientele :-)

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

I never thought of putting my shop name in the tags. After reading this and the post on another team I went and started adding it. I used Auntjudycrafts and AuntJudy and Aunt Judy where I had room for all three.

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

the best way to find out is to type your shop name in the search and see if the items you tagged with your name comes up.

I have tagged my shop name into some of my items and they come up in the search results.

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

I put my shop name on some of my items and it works! I have been doing this for sometime and I get a few days in the week, but, one view can equal to a sale so I'm not complaining!

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

I have my shop name in every listing but when I search with my name, only 70 out of 119 of my items come up. Weird.

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

It used to be advised to do this but there isn't any need for it now as you can easily find shop by the Shop search. I have never tagged with my shop name, I get searched for by my shop name on/off Etsy. This is what I get if I search for me in All Items

No results for cardsandcraft.
Did you mean the shop CardsAndCraft?

The link is active and takes you to my shop.

On the basis that you can be found this way without any tags is there evidence to say that those of you who use your name in your tags were actually found via your tags and not by Shop?

Basically you don't need to do it. If you are stuck for tags by all means do it but don't if it is to the detriment of something a lot more useful ie applicable to that listing.

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

I think it would work for returning customers, but new customers would not know the name of your shop to search for it.

This is wonderful, I would never have thought to do this. I hope my shop name isn't to long.

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

Interesting....I wonder what % of views are coming from having the shop name as a tag, versus using a more common descriptive search term as a tag instead. Since we are limited on tags, I want to make sure that I am getting the most bang for my buck on that precious little tag...

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

I just discovered something...I haven't tagged any of my items with my shop name. For the heck of it, I searched for my shop name in handmade. It had no search results, EXCEPT that it asked if I meant the shop PosyPop (with a link)! I clicked it, and it brought me straight into my shop.

For me, to tag my items with my shop name is a waste of a tag in that case!

Edited to add...I just tried a search using only "posy" and at the bottom of the first page of results was a message asking if I was looking for a shop....and a clickable link that would bring up shop names containing "posy".

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

I actually went to Etsy's home page and typed in my shop name...no results appeared but this is what came back:
No results for Catalu.
Did you mean the shop Catalu?

It links back to my shop so I'm wondering if adding it to the tags would really be necessary since it automatically links back.
