Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

Does putting your shop name in the tag really work? I heard some advice that in tags, you should put your etsy name, and your shop name, as it helps people find you better, and I have started doing it to some of my items. Is it worth it in the long run, what do you think? :)

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

Just noticed this question was asked in another team by someone else.
3 pages of responses and almost everyone said yes they do.
I have it on some of mine, not all. I probably need to add it to more.

I do it too. I think it matters. At least it does not hurt.

I put my shop name as a tag on all my items. It's a common search according to my stats.

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

I have it in my tags because it is a frequent keyword in my shop stats. If someone is looking for my shop by typing in the name then I want it to be easy to find.

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

Hm, interesting point! What about putting "bax" in my tags instead of the whole shop name? Just in case anyone forget the other part ("catandco") of the name. Which would be better?

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

Out of curiosity, I checked last month's stats - I did have people search using my shop name. I don't use it as a tag in all of my listings - only about 10%.

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

Yes. It drives traffic. Once someone sees your shop, and your name sticks in their mind, they might come back to etsy and search by your shop name. Not everyone remembers to book mark!

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

Agreed. It certainly helps me, according to my stats! And Kelly (BaxCatandCo), I do a similar thing: I have both "jewelrybyKAS" and "kas" as two tags on most of my items.

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

Geez I've never done this. Usually there are not enough tags for me, however on those listings where I might be lacking a tag or two I'm going to try it!

I just always assumed the item keywords are more important.

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

That's crazy! I had no idea; I guess I'll have to start. I just figured people would do a shop search or repeat customers would find me through their purchases list. I'll have to see which tags are replaceable... another thing on the "to do" list!

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

Yes, I put my shop name on some of my listing (got a dozen or so that does), just so someone who searches for my shop can find me. I actually had "veniciacreations" as a search term in my stats quite a few times now!

ETA: But with the new "feature", it's much less required. When you search an item in the search box and get results, at the end of the first page, Etsy asks you if you want to "search shop names" with that keyword..So if someone searches "veniciacreations" and I had no tags, I think they could still find me easily.

I only just found out about this a few days ago, not sure if it is helping with my views/sales at all but it was worth a shot! :)

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

I actually saw on my stats where folks had looked up my shop name... I think it works, and I only have it on a few! I'm gonna have to add it to a few more.

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

We actually don't have our name in any of our tags, but our stats have showed that people have found us that way anyway. I feel like it might be difficult for us to tag all our items that way, as many of the people who have found us via our name in search have spelled our name wrong, lol.

It never even occurred to me to use my shop name as a tag. What a great idea- thanks!

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

I've included my shop name in some of my tags. I use different variations of it (spaces, no spaces, leaving out the middle word). I recently had to change my shop name so I put the old name in some of my tags. I've gotten a few search views from tagging my shop name so it does help.

KnotaGeek from KnotaGeek says
many of the people who have found us via our name in search have spelled our name wrong, lol.

In that case, tag a few items with the incorrect spelling.

Re: Does putting your shop name in the tag really work?

I have my name and my shop name in some of my tags. I receive daily views from those, so I guess that it's good to keep them there.
