Do you include the printout receipt from etsy?

I keep going back and forth, but I think its necessary...I'd like to get one.

I always include a business card, thank you note, a product tag.

If it's a gift I don't....because I don't want to be responsible for telling the recipient how much was paid.

What do you think?
Do you?

Re: Do you include a receipt?

I use to, but then I had a gift, so I didn't send it. Since then I just haven't because it seems to waste so much of my time and energy, not to mention the paper. Plus, I do see that a lot of people will just toss them.

However, I do have a friend who needs receipts for her business, so she ends up printing most, even if one is sent to her. She likes having Paypal's receipt, not Etsy which is what a lot of people send.

Re: Do you include a receipt?

I ship out a quick, non color draft copy of the reciept with all of my orders along with a hand written note, either on the reciept or separate (depending on the item) and usually samples of my soap if they're available/ready.

I've done quite a bit of buying on etsy as well and I find that I think the packages without a reciept seem less professional like my buddy just popped something in an envelope to me.

One seller included a hand written carbon copy type of slip, which I think is fine, too.

I feel like if you order something from a B&M shop or a repuatable online business...they always include a slip.... so I do too. :)

Re: Do you include a receipt?

I like to include the receipt with a hand written note on it: just a few lines saying, here's a coupon for 10% off future purchase and a thank you. If I can, I personalize the thank you message based on previous conversations.

I do this for a few reasons.

One reason is because I like to get the receipt. It makes me feel like I'm dealing with a real business, not just some guy with a computer.

Another reason is because about 30 to 50% of my business is from repeat customers. There are so many other people selling beautiful handspun yarn out there. But given that my items are towards the upper end of that market (and priced accordingly), it's important to me for the customer to identify my shop with the yarn they receive from me. I think the receipt acts as a reminder of where their item came from, if only as an subconscious brand awareness kind of thing.

Re: Do you include a receipt?

Absolutely! I think it is more professional to include a receipt with a short "thank you". Plus you can put a coupon code for buyers to return!!!!
