Direct traffic

I have noticed in my stats, that I get about 10 visits daily from direct traffic. This is when people actually put my url in the address bar, right? If they clicked on my link from somewhere, the stats would show where that link was found (facebook, for example), correct? I am wondering who these people are. I am happy about it, just curious, ya know. are they the same people over and over again? are they people from all of the craft shows I did this past holiday season? Do you know where your direct traffic comes from?

Re: Direct traffic

You can learn more about new visitors vs. repeat visitors through Google Analytics. It breaks down your site visits into new vs. repeat visits and also shows the page they landed on.

Re: Direct traffic

Thanks, Katrina. I tried google analytics when I first started but coudn't get it to work. I read all the info from etsy on it and realize that it is a very simple process, but somehow, i was messing it up, lol. I'll have to go back and give it another shot :) Thanks for reminding me about it.

Re: Direct traffic

It's also from your twitter account. Most everything else comes up as a location (FB, blogs, search engines, etc.)

Re: Direct traffic

No twitter for me. I don't get it (twitter). I feel very old saying that, lol.

Re: Direct traffic

I think direct links can also be bookmarks. If someone bookmarked your item instead of adding it to their Etsy favorites.

Re: Direct traffic

Direct links can be Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Wanelo in addition to bookmarks, if someone copys a link from an email or just enters into a browser. There's also a lot of bot views. I had a spike in Direct Traffic by posting to Wanelo yesterday but I know most of those aren't real views -- just bot views.
Also, even if you don't do twitter, there's a chance someone might have tweeted an item of yours.
