Lately I have more and more direct traffic and I'm trying to figure it out why. I'm wondering is that a good thing and is that means my potential buyers going Straight to visit my shop. In that case I can hope for more sales??? Or not :(
Vesna, do you use Google Analytics. I have it hooked to my shop and while I never generate enough traffic to actually use it as a real analytic tool and check it out occasionally...mainly because real time is kinda fun ;) Playing around with it you can find some interesting information about where your traffic actually comes from. Just last night I found the section "referrals" under "traffic sources" and saw that I had small mention in a couple of small blogs I never knew I did. But like everything, take it with a grain of salt.
I think the Direct Traffic comes from people clicking on your shop name or one of your items directly - like from this thread, for instance. When you post stuff in your Teams, you'll see it come up on the right side under Teams, but I'll betcha on the left side, it's under the Direct Traffic heading.
I get traffic sources that come from wanelo so I don't know that direct traffic is necessarily coming from wanelo. Although, the traffic sources from wanelo could be bots. Don't know.
Thank you all for responds this is all so confusing I wish that i could find uot what is consider direct traffic and Denise I don't use Google Analytics but I would like to. How did you get hooked up to your shop?
Part of direct traffic, I think, is people sharing your items such as on facebook or in emails, or people who've bookmarked your site on their computer. When I get hits from wanelo, it says wanelo.com, so I don't think that's it.
correct me someone if I'm wrong, but it says wanelo if someone clicks through on an item that you've saved, but direct if its a click on your item that someone else has saved..........on wanelo
Finally my direct traffic views are down, google is back up a bit and Etsy is hanging in there! I've been reading about the problems with stats on other threads too, so I'm hopeful something has been fixed.
Here you go Vesna: http://www.google.com/analytics/ you can go on and create an account and link your Etsy shop to it. Its fun to play with if nothing else ;)
