Direct Traffic to an item

I have an item that has gotten like 100 views from direct traffic in 2 hours. It's not my shop, it's focused on this one item.

It wasn't in a treasury or on the front page, and i didn't post it anywhere.

What could that be? From a website, I would be getting traffic from a web address, not by direct traffic, right?

Could it just be some obsessive compulsive person clicking on the item over and over? Haha. It's getting likes from lots of different people so that's probably not it...

Which item is it? Does the listing show it was in any treasuries? What do your stats say on the right hand side? Teams, Shop, Etsy Front Page, etc?

No to all that, which is why I'm confused.

Someone probably pinned the item or showed it off-site. Be glad!!! :D

But when you pin it, doesnt traffic then come from Pinterest?

Yes, anywhere off site shows up as the site it came from. I'm pretty sure that's the way it's supposed to happen.

I agree. someone pinned your item. If you have pinterest account, you will be notified when someone pins or repins your item.

I never pinned it, and I have no traffic from Pinterest, just direct traffic.

It's not a big deal, I'm just a control freak so the mass amount of Direct Traffic is throwing me for a loop because I want answers! Haha.

Guess I just have to suck it up!

Anyone can pin anything from your shop. You will never know if you don't have a pinterest account. Watch! I'm going to pin an item from your account in a few minutes.

Click on the Stats for that particular item.
What are the top 3 sources in the left column, and the top 3 in the Etsy sources column on the left?

Direct traffic: around 100
mail.yahoo.com: 8
etsy.com: 5

Traffic sources from Etsy:
Your listings: 5
(that's the only source)

Twitter comes in as direct traffic, perhaps someone posted it there, maybe you could try doing a search there!
