Deactivating Listings

I'm going on vacation in a few weeks and I don't want to totally put my shop on vacation since it can hurt a shop. Does deactivating listings do the same thing? I have some ready to ship items and patterns I would leave up so my shop wouldn't be empty.

Thanks in advance.

Re: Deactivating Listings

I don't believe that deactivating listings has any kind of negative effect like the ones I hear about from vacation mode. What could happen? Any of those items featured in treasuries would disappear from the treasury but I think that's about it. Reducing the number of items in your shop doesn't help bring in more people but compared to vacation mode, I'd say the damage wouldn't be nearly as bad.

Re: Deactivating Listings

I went into vacation mode for one week back in July and sold exactly the same amount of items in July than I did in the months before.

Bea, I really don't want to put my shop in total vacation mode because I want the ready to ship items and patterns still available.

Re: Deactivating Listings

I've deactivated items before for different reasons and it didn't seem to affect my sales.

Re: Deactivating Listings

If you deactivate your listing and then someone tries to click on them they will end up seeing isimilar items from different shops. And if you put your shop on vacation mode you will all but dissappear.

I would suggest that you keep your shop open but put in your announcement and message to buyer that you are away and items won't ship until whenever. (and if it's public yet you can even change your processing time on all your listings for the extended time)

I did that when I went on vacation a few months back and actually got a sale. Shipped it when I got back and didn't have a problem...

Re: Deactivating Listings

I deactivate items all the time when I take items out of my Etsy shop and take them to consignment. That way I can be sure that they don't sell in both places.
