Creating a banner

I think the time has come for me to create a banner. I've been dragging my feet on this because I just don't know where to start.

I would love some guidance and advice.

Start simple. Use the correct dimensions which are 760 pixels by 100 pixels. Image software options are Incredibly diverse. Some use Picassa, some use power point, some use Photoshop. I like Gimp. It's a lot like Photoshop, but free to download and use. www.gimp.org

Great advice above and I'll take it one step further, if you have a teen in the house, ask them to create it. ;-) They can do this stuff in a flash where it takes me hours. lol My 16 year old son is my go to graphics guy.

Here's a thread with some easy to follow instructions on making a banner in PowerPoint if you don't want to mess with any fancy photo editing tools. It only took me a few minutes to make mine :)

I created mine in InDesign and converted it to a jpeg to use here. If you don't want to work in pixels the dimensions are 8" x 1". Just make sure when you save it as a jpeg that you "save for web" and tell it you need it 760 x 100 pixels.

MS Publisher worked great for our Banner. It was rather simple to create. We created it and saved it a jpg.
