Create a simple Facebook username - it's easy!

I never knew how to do this and with some helpful pointers from fellow etsians worked it out - thought I would share the love!

Once you have 25 likes, it's easy - go to www.facebook.com/username. Make sure you choose the Page username option in the bottom half of the dialogue box or you will change your personal page.

If you get lost I took some screen shots and typed up instructions -

Thanks for the info. It was perfect timing, except FB is really confusing about it. I tried typing in StitchSilly and it somehow created it for my personal page. Thank goodness I was able to change that, but now, of course StitchSilly isn't showing up as available. :-(

I was looking for a phone number to call and talk to someone about it, but of course there isn't one. Does anyone know if the name will be released if I wait a while?

Why does Facebook have to be so confusing in the first place? I get frustrated every time I visit.

I need to do this, and I hear what you are saying. I tried to make my profile photo private and not be made available in a search but not allowed to set it to private :-(

Thank you for sharing this...so close; I have 23 people liking my page. Just need a couple more! I have also learned that you must "like" a page from a personal FB account for it to show up and not from your business FB page.

@StitchSilly - you may need to change your personal page to your business page and then create a new personal page since Facebook thinks the name is already taken. Do you have any Facebook savvy friends that could help you?

@IndyspireArt, that's an interesting thought. When I type in facebook.com/stitchsilly it comes up as page not found. I'm wondering if I wait 24 hours, StitchSilly may be released and I will be able to use it. In the meantime, it prompted me to do a contest on my blog and FB pages for alternatives.

That way if I can't get my first choice username maybe I'll at least get some traffic to my sites. When life throws you a lemon, make lemonade.

@StitchSilly, I hope that your name will become available after 24 hours. Keep us posted. Could you make a small change if it does not allow you to use it, such as "Stitch.Silly" or "Stitch_Silly"? Not the most convenient, but would probably show up if people are searching for you. Good luck :)

Fortunately I'm not alone, I'm usually lost with the use of facebook. I just have a name for my shop too. I found out last week that I have to like from my personal page so I'm liking everyone again from both pages. This is mine in case you want to exchange likes:
