Could I get some shop feedback? :)

Hi there!

I'm relatively new to the world of Etsy (my shop's been open since march 20th). I've made a few sales (which is great, and super encouraging!), but I still think there are things I could probably do to make my shop better. I'm not entirely sure how to market my items most successfully (I'm an English major, with unfortunately little business experience...), and I'm also wondering if there are any adjustments I should make to my listings to get prospective buyers more interested in purchasing. One note: I only have one feedback response so far, because the other orders purchased (2) are still in the shipping process... I know this might be keeping some interested people from making a purchase... but, apart from that drawback, if any veterans out there have any advice for a newbie like myself, I'd definitely appreciate it! :)

Thanks so much!

Your shop has a very polished look about it! You've only been at it a month -- you're off to a very good start!

I'd say use as many tags as possible. I peeked at this listing:
http://www.etsy.com/listing/71016899/boutonniere-set-unique-jute-wrapped

and you might also use tags like "country" "barn wedding" etc...Use the terms burlap and jute in these listings. Burlap is also called "sacking" by some folks.

The feedback will come, so I wouldn't dwell too much on this. :)
Good luck!

Thank you so much, Kate! That means a lot coming from someone with such a beautiful store.
I'll definitely update my tags, and make sure people looking for barnyard wedding accessories can find me :) great advice.

Adorable stuff! For me I might be curious to see what your headbands look like on a head - you could purchase an inexpensive mannequin and photograph them on so buyers could see where the placement of the flowers fall, etc.

Your shipping costs seem a tad bit high, but I see that you package them in a really cute box which makes it nice. Maybe only include the box if the buyer notes its a gift? For me adding on another $5 if it's something I'm going to wear myself might deter me when I would be just as happy receiving it wrapped in tissue paper.

Just my $.02! I think you're poised to be really successful. Check out different wedding vendor sites too if you haven't already for advertising and join some treasury teams!

Re: Could I get some shop feedback? :)

PlaidCupcakeDesigns: GREAT advice. I've been toying with the idea of modeling boutonnieres/head pieces on friends, but have been torn because I want people to judge the item based on exactly how it looks, not how it looks on a particular person. But a mannequin is something that for some reason never crossed my mind! It completely removes any bias.

Packaging is another subject I've been looking to adjust. At first the packaging was simply to keep the item/s safe during shipment, but now you're right, it almost seems like a novelty, and should probably be optional. I'm sure if I lower shipping prices, sales will be more promising.

Thank you so much for taking the time to give me those $.02 :) I sincerely appreciate it!

Sofiesticate: Thank you so so much! I love making cake toppers, and definitely appreciate the sweet words :)
