Convoing treasury people

I get convos from people who put my items in treasuries, and I'm wondering if those go out automatically, or if it has to be done manually. If it has to be done manually, is there an easy way to do it? I've just created a treasury, so would like the info. Thanks for any help!

They have to be done manually as far as I know but there's a way to do it that doesn't take much time at all.
Start with the treasury you made.
Click the "Copy" command of your computer on the treasury's URL (on my mac it's control C)
Click each item to go to the item's page. Click "Contact". The item will automatically show on the convo. Then I just write something simple like "You're featured" in the title, then in the body of the convo just click your computer's command to copy the treasury URL (in Mac's it's control V).
Repeat this 16 times - it really doesn't take too long this way.
So the receiver gets both the URL for the treasury as well as for the specific item from their shop.

Maybe there's a better way but this is what I do!

You have to do it, its not automatic though it will come up in their activity feed that you have featured them. However it may be lost in piles of other info if they have a lot going on in their activity. Maybe copy the first message you do then paste the others if all the messages are going to be the same.

I don't send convos to people I put in treasuries and I think the only way you learn your in one is by looking at each of your items to see if it is featured. You can also tell by checking activity in your circles. I hope this helps. I know people appreciate the convos letting them know, but it's too time intensive for me and I feel I make more treasuries this way.

@stitchcottage: In the activity feed, it'll show if your item has been treasured, but it seems lots of sellers don't notice this, or perhaps they're too busy to respond. Busy times of year, especially, it's hard to keep up with this sort of thing!

I always manually convo, it's more personal, and is a good venue to add a little extra about my own shop and other links e.g. to facebook: www.facebook.com/becorations Any contact is good contact, it doesn't take that long, and shows you value their input too.

admittedly it's a shame there is not a mass mail out version though!

There is an app that I've downloaded a while back that automatically creates and convo to each shop in the Treasury. My apologies...I did not keep a record of the app. I will research to obtain that information.

I'd be interested in that as well. Admittedly, I don't create many treasuries, but if I can figure out how to get people to look at them, then I'm sure I'd create more. It's no fun to work on a treasury and then only get 11 views.

laura, there's a whole 'science' to treasury promotion - i.e. treasury promotion teams, where you post your treasury, comment on x number of treasuries ahead of yours, and then other people comment on yours so it's a guarantee of getting more views. It's best if you do it as part of a team because then other people (team members who are featured in your treasury) will help promote it.
It's not a happy accident when treasuries make it to the front page (of treasuries, not of etsy) and have 100's and 100's of views. A lot of effort has gone into it.

My treasuries get a lot more views if I convo the featured artists. It doesn't take that long if you use the copy/paste method described above.

Yowza! That sounds like lots of work. Does it pay off? There are so many things we could potentially do to build our shops, it seems there's just not time to do everything! It's hard to know where to be concentrating my efforts.

I tried an experiment with convos to see what the impact would be on my treasuries. I found that when I didn't send the convos I had less visits and less clicks.

I always send a convo and try to promote the treasury by tweeting, facebook and in a couple of promotional teams.

It does take time, so like everything else with running a business, you have to weigh the pros and cons.

I'm so glad you made this discussion! I've made 2 treasuries recently, and I went back (after reading this thread) and sent them all a little note telling them I put their item in a treasury (with a link to it) and I received only positive comments (and extra visits to my treasuries). :)

I always convo the featured artisans. I just feel it is a nice jester and it doesn't take that long. I always like to be contacted when someone puts me in their treasuries. You can also go to the Treasury search and put your name in there and it will give you the treasuries that you have been featured in. It is kind of nice since not everyone lets you know. Makes you happy when you see how many treasuries you are in!
