What's the deal with circles and how does it benefit?

well circles are the perfect exposure for you items. if person x faves one of your items and has let´s say 100 followers, then 100 persons see your item in their activity feed.

It's basically establishing a network of fellow artists and crafters. Barbara is right, as you will see other people's favourite items in your activity feed if they're in your circle. Favourites can spread like wildfire if lots of people see an item faved by someone- a little bit of a domino effect!
It's definitely an advantage to be in lots of circles, and there are a few teams promoting circling :)

I didn't get it at first either, then I was like..OOOHHH!!!! So ya, I'm always thrilled when someone adds me to their circle and I've been trying to add more people to mine!

Circles are the same thing than followers? (I'm new in Etsy)

My circles just changed to followers. Now I am a bit confused.
