Christmas in July

Any of you will have a Christmas in July sale?? Is it only Christmas-y items or all your shop? Do you list your Christmas items for that time of year?

And, for jewelry sellers...do you do Christmas-y jewelry? I thought about just tagging my glam items for holiday parties and such but is it enough?

I don't do seasonal items... But I have done Christmas in July. Last year I put my entire shop on sale and did pretty well.

I have a few holiday pieces, but if I do a CIJ sale, it will include other items that are not necessarily specifically for Christmas. A lot of people will put their whole shop on sale, others will create a special section just for their Christmas in July items. It's up to each seller. There will be an organized push for the CIJ sale starting the end of June, where they'll set the official dates of the sale, and Etsy will promote it at that time.

Who is organizing it this year? It used to be Lucinda, but she had some troubles and had to close her shop.

Thanks guys! I think I might have a CIJ sale throughout my shop. I rarely do sales and I wasn't here last July so I can't have a reference...

Anna...Christmas in July is a sale organized around the end of July to get a head start on Christmas shopping. It seems it's not organized by Etsy itself but by a shop owner?

I'm doing a Christmas in July-themed craft show the first week of July. Does that count? :)

In past years, many shops have decided to host a 'Christmas In July' sale.

Its never been sponsored by Etsy.

Many people use it as a reason to have a sale in their shop during the slower summer months.

There's never been any restriction about what could be sold.

I did a CIJ sale on everything last year - and did really well. I am planning to do it again this year. I advertise it on my blog, FB page, etc. I also put little flyers in my sold orders so customers will know to look for it.

I guess it might depend on what you sell - but I sell alot of holiday items and it really elevated my sales numbers during a slow time.

Interesting idea! I have a couple Christmas bracelets that I didn't renew the listings for. It might be worth it to renew them for a Christmas in July sale though! :)

Well I've got a couple seasonal items, but I just leave them as listed. There's only two of them, so it's not really worth it to promote selling just two items.

What percentage off do you guys normally do? This would be my first year doing it.

I do 20%. I normally do not have any sales with discounts like that, but the CIJ is my biggest sale of the year. When I get closer to the actual holidays - my business gets pretty brisk and it's all I can do to keep up - so I don't need to run a sale then - maybe one day on Black Friday - but that's it.

A CIJ sale is a great idea. Do you do it just on July 25 or for a week or more?

Do you all reflect your "sale" price with your listings and readjust them? Do you have a coupon code for your "sale"? Do you use the Etsy on Sale app for all of your listings?

It's great to hear previous years have been successful for some!
