Calculated Shipping vs Shipping Profiles

Yesterday I added calculated shipping to all my shop items. Now I'm wondering if I should disable my original shipping profiles or leave them be. Does one override the other?

A buyer in Denmark just bought jewelry and it worked out fine, but I'm not sure how the shipping was figured. I think it was from my profile and was already set up to include ins.

I insure most everything that goes overseas, so now I don't know how to add insurance with calculated shipping so the buyer pays for it.

Anyone else have questions or is it just me. Thanks.

Re: Calculated Shipping vs Shipping Profiles

I never understood shipping profiles. I always used the calculated shipping and worked out fine for me.

Re: Calculated Shipping vs Shipping Profiles

I know there's a field where you can add additional expenses like shipping materials, handling fee, etc. This would probably be where you'd add an additional insurance charge as well, but you'd have to calculate it prior as before.

I know you can add a handling fee, but I thought it was for every transaction. I would only insure a few things, mostly overseas. I had a feeling this wouldn't be as easy as it sounded.
