Cake Toppers?

Now that Christmas is over I need to add some new items to my shop.
I sold quite a few of my penguin ornaments this year and am considering making them into cake toppers ( they'll be a larger version of the ornament without the hook in the top).

These would be for both birthdays and, in the case of the penguin couple ornaments, wedding toppers, both with customizable options.

What do you think??

I think they'd make great cake toppers!! The penguin with the 1 would too! It's worth a try anyway, you are only out 20 cents if they don't sell!! plus it will get your listings into a new category, which means more eyes on all your products!! Even if they don't sell, they might bring in buyers for other stuff.

They are adorable!! I don't think you have anything to lose if you convert them as cake toppers. I think they will be a success just as they were as Christmas ornaments...They are just too cute!!! Best Wishes....

I had a few vintage cake toppers in my shop and they sold very well. I think you'll do great!

My only concern as a buyer is that they are food safe. Since some paints and clays are not food safe, you might include how yours are food safe-such as a liner of plastic.

Deb, Thanks for the concern. Yes, this is something I've thought about - I'm surprised that so few shops mention anything about this! I'm either going to sell mine with a food-safe cardboard or paper round to place under the topper, or suggest one be used with the product.

I love the one with the heart on it, in fact a few of the ornaments like the pig with the number one could also be a cake topper those would be so cute. I wonder is there a way for them to be a cake topper and then after the occasion it can be made into a keepsake ornament that might be a good selling feature how cute to have all of baby cake toppers to be made into something to hang on the tree.
