My daughter bought me several items off my favorites list for my birthday this year (because she is a sweetheart who loves her mom :-)

In each case, she wrote a note to the seller during checkout, saying that the purchase was a gift and asked if they offered gift wrap or a card.

In each case, but one, the sellers ignored the note and enclosed the printed receipt in with the item when they sent it. I got the item, without wrapping or a card, with the receipt with the price, which included her note that they had ignored.

The only seller that actually reacted to the note was, http://www.etsy.com/shop/girlgeekboutique. She wrapped up my necklace in tissue and a tulle pouch and even enclosed a card, wishing me a happy birthday. Please go check out her shop today. She understands customer service.

:-)

Re: Buyer Notes - Do you read them?

Always, always, always! I haven't yet gotten a birthday request -- to be honest, for something like a note or special packaging, it'd be nice to get a convo about before hand. I try to ship everything same day, and it can mess me up a little if I don't have a cute card or the proper supplies on hand. I send all of my packages in tissue paper with ribbon just because I think it looks better than just shoving everything in my mailing envelope, but I'd feel terrible if I overlooked a buyer's note not to include an invoice! Geez, that's just bad business.

Re: Buyer Notes - Do you read them?

WOW! Sometimes customers ask about different address for shipping or custom order, so I read buyer notes :)
Sorry, the situation isn’t funny, but it makes me smile.

I'm really surprised at people who don't read buyer's notes.

Re: Buyer Notes - Do you read them?

I always try and remember to look at the Buyers Notes, especially before I pack and ship the item. I know it can be something easy to overlook but I always take the time to remember to do it.

A happy customer is often a repeat customer :D

Re: Buyer Notes - Do you read them?

I always read the notes....and that is after having multiple convos with the buyers!! I hadn't thought about offering to write a handwritten note or card, that's a good idea since I already include a handwritten note to the buyer thanking them for their purchase.

Re: Buyer Notes - Do you read them?

Always, always, always read the buyer's notes. How else would I know to send the item to another address as a gift, etc?

Re: Buyer Notes - Do you read them?

I am however confused about the 'note to buyer' that is included after the sale. I presume this note is sent to the customer after the sale?

My habit has been to send a note through 'contact buyer' to give acknowledgement and info concerning shipping.

Re: Buyer Notes - Do you read them?

I read notes from buyers all the time, very very carefully.

If the buyer had not left a note, I would be worry then contact her. Ask again if it is a gift.

Re: Buyer Notes - Do you read them?

I always look at buyer's notes as well, and I love birthdays, so I would definitely include a little gift or card with the order! What Girlgeekboutique did was the right way to go!

Although, if it was especially important to me that the gift be wrapped, I probably would have sent a message as well just to be sure.

Re: Buyer Notes - Do you read them?

Oh, so sorry to hear that.. I always read seller notes, because it is very important to know, what your customer needs or asking for. I had requests to send my photos as a gifts and write a special notes to buyers friend for birthday. I think it would be terrible to miss it!!

But anyway, Bits, I hope you are happy to receive your presents even without wrapping and note cards :) Your daughter is very sweet and you are very lucky mom! :)

Re: Buyer Notes - Do you read them?

I always check for a note from the buyer. I'd hope the majority of sellers do the same - maybe you were just unlucky??

Re: Buyer Notes - Do you read them?

I always read buyer's notes. And, I get really frustrated, when as a buyer, the seller doesn't read my note. Usually they do, but not always.

Re: Buyer Notes - Do you read them?

Always read them! I always send my items beautifully wrapped and include a handmade card if it's for a gift. And always send my customers email to let them know the package shipped+ tracking number.

Re: Buyer Notes - Do you read them?

I actually wish my customers left me more notes! And not only because I want to know their preferred color and event date so that I don't have to contact them:))) But just because I love customer notes- especially if it's a sweet "thank you"!:D
