Burst of Mysterious Views

First of all, I'm not complaining - not entirely. It started a few days ago, all of a sudden I had triple the number of views I usually did, and from the next day onwards, I was getting a LOT of favourites on my envelope ring. It's wonderful, BUT, I've gone over my stat page hundreds of times, torn it to pieces, and I just can't work out where these views are coming from.

None of the treasuries I've been in for a while has gotten me much traffic, I've not been on the front page for a few months, and I've not been featured in any Etsy emails or their blog. I've also not been featured on any websites outside of Etsy, I've not had an influx of direct links, either. This is as far as my stats are telling me. It's doing my head in because I don't know if it's something I did - so I can repeat it - something someone else did - so I can thank them - or just blind luck and not expect to see it continue.

Has anyone else had an influx of views with no real idea of where they're coming from?

That has happened to me and it's enough to make you mad. Google analytics often isn't helpful either. I don't know what to tell you, sug.

Pinterest? StumbleUpon? I have no idea how to check if my items have been pinned. I can do it for my blog, but not for my etsy listings. You never know if some random person featured your item on some blog and never told you, but if it's a source for traffic, then yay I guess! As long as they aren't claiming to be you :/

Are they coming from Browse? I can tell if any of my items are on the first page because I get a lot of views from the browse. Also, sometimes on Pinterest people will start randomly repinning an item of mine and then that will get a lot of views.

Same thing here for the last few days. Not from browse, its really all over the place. I thought it was because of a number of new listings, but that isn't the total answer. Whatever it is, its good exposure. Still, only one order yesterday - not complaining - got quite a few more favs than ususal too.

Hopefully it is window shopping! I'm not complaining, my views have been quite low since August so I'm definitely happy to see them so high now, I just wish I knew what it was so that I could try to repeat it in the future!
And as far as I can see, it's not from Browse or anything like that. Who knows, maybe these new catagory changes Etsy put into place are benefiting me. Or perhaps I'm just getting lucky.
I've not seen anything about pinterest at all, however, so it's not impossible that maybe pinning just doesn't show up in stats.

Are they from search? Are their any specific keywords causing the huge surge? Or similar ones? My thinking is that it might be some sort of trend, those types of rings (not necessarily your's) mentioned on a big blog or possibly in an Etsy newsletter. They have been linking to search pages more often then particular listings, so if your ring is in that search page you may be (along with other jewelers) benefiting from high traffic.

On your stats page, the column on the left (traffic sources, I think) should add up to your total views. Is one of those particularly big? The right hand column of Etsy sources should add up to the Etsy line on the left. Is one of those particularly big? If so, let us know and we'll help interpret!

This happened to me a few months ago. I had about a week or two of INSANE hits. I normally average 90 - 100, but out of NOWHERE, I was getting 250-300 per day.

No clue how it happened, but it was nice while it lasted :)

Nope, nothing from search, and the only keyword which has brought in results is "fox" while "envelope" or anything similar has only 2 results. And there are no unusually high numbers in either column, like I said, I tore my stats page apart :P
