Blog giveaway question

I am clueless about this stuff, so maybe somebody can help educate me. I was approached by a blogger to send a free item from my shop in exchange for a review on her blog and a sidebar ad. Is this legit? How do I know she will follow through on the promised ad and review? Or is that just a risk we accept?

Re: Blog giveaway question

on the face of what you just said it sounds to me like they are trying to get something of yours for free. I would be inclined to do some more investigation, maybe see if they have done a similar thing already and see if you can in touch with another seller that has taken part.

Hope this help a tiny bit :-S

Re: Blog giveaway question

i was approached by many bloggers for "free" items and at first, i was intrigued but when i researched their sites - i was less than impressed. Check out the sources and if you like their style and their target audience would be interested in your product - it could be interesting!

Good luck!

Re: Blog giveaway question

Look at the blog - are their other reviews? How many followers does she have? That could help you decide if this is a good idea. I don't go for freebies and sponsored blogs and all that stuff. I'm happy to review items I've purchased and love on my blog, so I don't pay any mind to these other kinds.

Re: Blog giveaway question

Thanks! She only has 21 followers and they are teens so I guess I should be skeptical.

Re: Blog giveaway question

Legit bloggers will generally either write their review based off of the information on your site or buy the product to try it themselves. If someone needed the item to get better photos (though that's unlikely in your case, unless it were for something in print), they usually send the item back after taking the photos. Most bloggers who ask for stuff for free are just trying to get, well, free stuff.

Re: Blog giveaway question

I have a blog where I feature shops weekly and don't expect free products! I'm slowly moving towards doing reviews, however, I would pay for the items myself. Purchases help the artist (obviously!) and you will know for sure that the review is an honest one, not just a good review because they received free products.

Re: Blog giveaway question

You should ask for her visitor info such as followers, unique visitors, etc. If the blog is ONLY about giveaways and all the followers are only in for the FREE stuff I would stay away. I get msgs and emails on a daily basis to review my products. I check their blog to read their content and how many followers they have. It it's not my target market I write back and I always tell them they can purchase my samples for review.

I've sent my products for review to bloggers but these are actual customers who are loyal customers to indie cosmetics and their followers are customers too. Their review content and audience targets what I sell. They don't go knocking on someones store for free.products. It's great awareness for me since I'm new.
