Another shipping complaint

So having issues with my post service.
Went to the post office today and was charged about $20 for a small parcel.
I am assuming there is another way to send items (I am in china and most of the china sellers seem to have very low postage costs).

Anyway while I try to figure out how to post items at a reasonable cost I have increased all my postage costs to $20 and put this on my front page.
"A NOTE ABOUT POSTAGE COSTS:
Having some issues with my postal carrier which means all my postage prices have increased. I am hopeful that I can get it sorted out and return to my original prices. If you would like me to notify you if my postal prices decrease please send me a convo."

Does this seem reasonable? Was debating weather to do this or just close my shop while I figured things out. I am a bit worried buyers will click on an item, see the stupid postage and then remember not to click on my items in the future.

Re: Another shipping complaint

Given that the shipping cost is so much more than the items you're selling, I'd deactivate them and try to get this figured out first. Right now, a potential customer sees shipping costs they don't want to pay and there's a chance that'll stick in their head - you'll be the seller who had $20 shipping, even after you change it, instead of the seller who had those cute beads they want to purchase.

Re: Another shipping complaint

If I were you I would get your shipping costs figured out before you sell any more items.

When I'm shopping I look at the total cost of an item and if the shipping is well out of line I'll not go back to that shop.

Re: Another shipping complaint

Thanks.
I have taken your advice and put my shop on 'holiday mode' until I figure things out.

Just a bit disappointed to have to do it as I had just recently started to get a few sales and a good number of views per day.

Hopefully will get it sorted soon and be back in business.

Re: Another shipping complaint

Is it possible for you to contact other sellers in China that have lower shipping rates and ask them how they ship?

Re: Another shipping complaint

Yep, I don't know how you sorted it out, but everything looks reasonably priced now. Good luck!

Re: Another shipping complaint

Apparently the post office has two prices here. One for regular people and one for businesses. (Would have been nice if the lady at the post office had explained this but apparently that is not her job...)
To get the business price you have to do everything online.
