Re: Am i doing something wrong????

Hi Clare............I have been trying to sell since last
Aug.
I still have no sales but it takes time.
The one thing that I noticed is that some of your photos are fairly dark. I would try to retake them or lighten them. The dark ones are hard to see any detail on.
I hope that this helps a little bit and that others will chime in. :-)

Re: Am i doing something wrong????

Hi Clare!

It takes time. I didn't have my first sale for a month.

Lynne had a good point. Brighter pics usually have more views. Also try building more inventory. I struggle with that a lot. :)

I wish the best to you and your cute shop!

Emma

Re: Am i doing something wrong????

Perhaps a new banner might help too - if you want some help with that I would love to give you a hand or point you in the right direction? Your items are lovely! My theory is that with Etsy being so concentrated with great talent and products, you really have to make both your shop and your items really stand out! I found this article (at the end) extremely helpful and am still implementing the concepts, but I've seen my daily views jump dramatically, infact, within a few weeks of implementing some of the points, I had more views in a month than I did the entirety of last year! So if you have the time, these pointers in this article are amazing - so thankful I read about it on one of these team posts awhile back! http://etsymentors.blogspot.com/p/critique-your-own-shop.html

Hope that helps, and feel free to take me up on the offer to help with the banner if you like :)

Re: Am i doing something wrong????

Thank you soooo much for your comments..i didnt want to use flash for the photos so i used natural daylight, problem being is i live in the UK where we dont have much sunlight due to the fact its spring time. Will have to lighten them up some other way :) ...Katy that website is so good!! I would love help on the banner too!!

I think your stuff is beautiful, i have just visited your shop and added it to my favourites, i will definitely be back to buy something for my daughters birthday. That, pehaps is the problem at the moment, im new too and we missed the christmas spending bonanza and i think perhaps we will pick up birthday sales or holiday sales right now. I do think you will sell so hang on in there its early days yet. I love your shop and others will too

Re: Am i doing something wrong????

Hi Clare!

I opened up shop in October of 2011 and my first sale was in December.
As is noted here, it takes time. Have fun networking, making treasuries, joining teams and building your circles.

There is some great advice in these forums and in the seller handbook.
Spend some time getting to know the site, visit the shops of top sellers but most of all enjoy your time in the Etsy playground!

I find the more fun I have the better my experiences as a buyer and seller.

Good luck!

Re: Am i doing something wrong????

Clare, usually it takes some time to make the first sale. Just be patient and keep on working on your shop.

You can lighten up your photos with photo editing software - there are some free ones on the web, just google it. I personally use Photoshop which is NOT free, but there are excellent alternatives available for free.

Re: Am i doing something wrong????

It takes a loooong time sometimes to make a sale.... ESPECIALLY your first sale. I mean it takes some people months to make their first sale!

Just keep posting and reading as much as you can and never stop learning and tweaking things!

It will come... you just need to be very patient! =)

Re: Am i doing something wrong????

We opened last may and didn't have a sale until Nov. Since, we have had 19 sales and a lot more traffic. I would definitely suggest adding more items to your shop. Good luck and give it time. :)
