Advice please

Hi everyone!

Hope you all are well :)

My Mom and I have this Etsy store and have been doing well, but recently it's been SILENT. We have been updating our listings and posting new creations, but nothing! We've been promoting, but nothing. Why the sudden slow down?

Any advice would be appreciated :)

Thanks in advance!

Re: Advice please

You have some beautiful and unique jewelry. Your titles and tags look good, although there are a lot of repeated words in the tags. I don't think that is necessary and you may be wasting tags. If your sales were good before, then you're doing everything right. I think you only have about 35 items for sale...so your chances of being found in search are very limited. I noticed that once I had 150 or so items, my views and sales were way higher. You probably just need to add more listings. Another thing you can do is copy listings so you have 2 of some of your listings for sale. It's only 20 cents and you really increase your chances of being found in search. Just look at your stats and see what kind of search words people are using to find you.
Best of luck.

Re: Advice please

I would put dimensions on every piece of jewelry -- especially length for earrings. I personally like to know how large/small a piece is before I buy.

Your photos are good but I would try and add a photo to each with the piece on a model if possible. It let's people imagine how it may look on them.

I agree with Jewel above that some of your tags are repetitive. On one item you have 'august peridot ring' and then 'peridot ring'. If a multi-word phrase is within another tag, you dont need a separate one -- you're already relevant for searches of 'peridot ring' by having a tag of 'august peridot ring'. Go through and delete repeat tags and use the extra ones you free up to use more phrases to bring in buyers!

I'm fairly new to selling on Etsy, but just going off my first impression of your shop; you may benefit from taking more consistent pictures of your work (like using the same backdrop or the same angle/lighting). It can work with different angles/backdrops, but for the sake of letting your pieces shine, it might just be something to consider :) Best of luck!

Re: Advice please

If things just suddenly dropped off, I would first ask yourself if you did any changes to your SEO or tags? Sometimes we can accidentally change something that was working.

Other than that, I would also look at the season and ask yourself if maybe this is a slow period for jewelry right now? What was it like this time last year? Is this different or did you also have a lull last November?

Jewelry is tricky. I used to sell more of it and I remember this time of the year was slow for jewelry in my old shop. This was a great time for holiday related items whereas Jan-Mar was when I sold more jewelry items for either valentines day or people gearing up for weddings (my stuff is more bridal themed), or birthdays, etc.

Re: Advice please

Yes, I agree with Diana above...and also, I think there are more people who sell jewelry than sell anything else. So there is probably a LOT more people selling it this year competing with you.
