Packaging Question

I am in the process of (re)starting an Etsy shop. The first one I never really did anything with. My new one, NorthEastBaby, I'm trying to be more smart about starting. Making sure I have good photos, good descriptions, etc.

One thing I have a question on is packaging. I have bought several things from Etsy and they always come in really cute packaging. Some of my items are a little bulky, like pillows. I can't think of a cute and economical way to package them. I was thinking about just using heat shrink wrap and a handwritten thank you note for the bulky items.

Do you think this is a good idea or is there something more cute and creating I can do for my bulky items?

Thanks!
Cindy

Re: Packaging Question

Anything you can do to shrink down the size of your packaging for less space is always good. Have you considered Jute/ burlap sacks? You could shrink wrap your item in plastic (Be sure to put a sticker on it to remind folks that plastic is not to be played with by children for liability!) Then after it is shrink wrapped, place it in a jute bag. You could add a decorative tag with they baby head that is in your logo, so not only do your customers get cute packaging, but also useful packaging!

Here are some basic options that google brings up in a variety of sizes. :)

Best of luck on your packaging!

Re: Packaging Question

Just remember that whatever packaging you finally decide to use, that it will stand up to the handling by the Post office.

Your burlap sacks are a great idea but they should be either put in a box or in a polymailer to protect them from the elements.

Re: Packaging Question

You could tie a ribbon or some cute baker's twine around them and attach a tag! Tissue paper could be fun as well.

Re: Packaging Question

I'd use a tag and hook the tag loop/string loop with a safety pin to attach on your item.
