Adding items with views vs sales?

I am trying to increase the number of total items for sale in my shop. However, I have a dilemma on which categories to increase my items for sale. I feature original paintings which overwhelmingly get the most views, but I also sell notecards/postcards of my artwork, which have (overwhelmingly) the most sales. My dilemma stems from the question – do I add more items which get the most sales or the most views?

I’d love to hear other etsians advice on what technique they have used in their own store!

Sales. I have had things with the most views never sell while things with hardly any views sell. What is your goal? For people to see your work or for people to buy your work?

I agree, add the things that sell! Although, I understand that the bigger-ticket items may be drawing more people into your shop, so it's definitely worth it to keep that stuff around.

You need the paintings to give value to the prints but I've looked at your shop and the ratio of original paintings vs prints is high enough so I second what's been said... sales !

Re: Adding items with views vs sales?

I think it needs to be what you want your shop to be about. I could ask this same exact question....I sell my actual blankets, but I also sell patterns of those blankets. The patterns sell way more than the actual items, but the actual items get more views. However, I want my shop to be about my actual blankets....the patterns are an afterthought, so I would never focus on that part of my shop, even if the sales mostly come from there. If you are wanting many sales and a good amount of profit, I would sale the postcards. If you want your shop to be about your original paintings, I would say put more of those. :)

Both? If every painting has a respective set of prints available, why not get both more views and more sales? If you have a time crunch, I'd recommend listing the painting first and then the prints.

Love your stuff!

Re: Adding items with views vs sales?

Thanks, all, for the advice! It's great to hear from others who have had similar situations. I was leaning towards more print items, but as I add more paintings I receive more views. I want to keep my art affordable and accessible, but increase sales, so I think that's the way to go!
