Adding an item a day

Hello everyone!! I've been doing a lot of reading into how to get my sales up and have came to the conclusion that adding an item a day and getting my total product count up closer to the magical number of 50 or 100 items is going to be the best way to accomplish that! SO, next question, does the time of day you add your items have an impact on the views? I'm on the East Coast and know there are shoppers all over the world so that's why I'm not sure if the time of day really matters or not... any opinions??

Great question- I've been wondering the same thing. I guess I can't offer advice, but I'd love to hear some.

I've tried to track my stats, and I think that I get more views in the evening. Perhaps tracking views might give you some clues?

I haven't found yet the best time of day. I seem to get a lot of views around 1am and 3am. I'm asleep. So I'm going with the 'anytime is good' time. I'll be interested to hear what others have to say.

I get a lot of views in the evening as well. Sometimes around lunchtime too. I try to post right around lunchtime. Not sure if that's helping or not though.

It helps to get as many items as possible into your shop. Two years ago, I tried to get 100 items into my jewelry shop, and couldn't - every time I got close, I sold stuff. This past year, I achieved 211 items in that shop, and I'm deader than a doornail.

But add stuff anyway - you get good views from people when you have new stuff listed.

This is a really good post, I was wondering the same things exactly. I'm in the UK and my views don't start increasing until about now (which is nearly 5pm our time).

Also I really need to get my stock levels up! Time to get busy :)

I find my best times are 10:00 A.M. and midnight.

In 10+ years on eBay I found that the day and time of day people shop varies by what they are shopping for. My miniatures did best starting at 10:00 A.M. on a Monday, tools and such about 10:00 A.M. on Saturday, etc. I'm sure that a similar pattern exists on Etsy, but I don't work with enough different items to know what it is. Maybe sellers of different classes of items will weigh in and help establish what that pattern is - or if it even exists here.

Hello Emma, I am sort of new on Etsy. I have 62 Items and still haven't sold anything through Etsy. =( I will try to add new Items every other day or 2 times a week let's see if that helps.

I'm on the east coast too. I usually post at all times of the day. Around this time the west coast is up and about. In the evening the east coast is home and unwinding and overnight the other half of the world is up. During the overnights I get ok views, but early mornings, afternoons, and early evenings I usually get my spikes.

I try and list 3 items a day, I've started doing this about a week or so, don't know if it will help my sales. Coming from Ebay and doing very well this is a bit depressing. :(

I haven't really figured it out either. I seem to get the most shop views at either 4 a.m. or between 5 & 7 p.m. Frankly, I don't want to succeed bad enough to be awake enough to list something at 4 a.m. LOL, and I'm normally busy with dinner during the evening peak, plus, that evening time is when my internet speed slows to a crawl for some reason. My solution has been to list items when ever it fits into my daily schedule then I link the new item to Twitter & Facebook at various other times throughout the day or night.

That may not be the best solution, but it does seem to spread the views throughout the day.

Watch your shop stats - if you've got a time that people are looking in your shop a lot, try to post new things then.

My problem is, that's usually between 4 and 6 am - I don't get up quite that early. LOL

Frank- I hadn't thought of that, but it does make perfect sense, I'm sure the types of products you have determine the time of day your customers will be shopping!

1mADWomen- I'm sorry to hear your sales have slowed down so much but it's encouraging to hear that while you were building up to your 100 items you were busy! Do you think that your slow right now just because of the time of year that it is or have you been slow for a while?

I am on the East Coast as well...my views fluctuate all through the day.
I definitely see a spike in views at certain times of the day.
Usually around 11AM when the west coast has woken up...(stretch and yawn) and then late in the night when I am sleeping The other side of the planet seems to venture on in to my shop.
I list items whenever I get the chance to...
I think that if I list something and title and tag it correctly...the views spike. but if I miss the mark w/ the title and tags...not much happens.
I get most of my views from NY and California and then the UK and Australia. So when ever those areas are waking up, having lunch or after dinner is when my views spike.

Hi everyone! I too am perplexed by the time issue. I usually have the most views between 7 & 9 eastern time, but lots of times I have sales later at night.

Just thought that using statsy could help some of you... check it out if you haven't. I am thinking I need to use it myself to keep relisting regularly (I neglect that when I get busy). Anyway, it lets you choose what time to relist things, then it does it for you when that time comes!

Hey, shop hopping again - I'm 1madwoman, too. LOL

I had slowed way down back in May - I was getting about 150 - 200 item views a day in heartsabustin, and about 100 - 150 in 1madwoman. Then Google introduced Panda, which is a new search algorithm, and it screwed me up badly, and I've never quite recovered from it. I'm lucky now to get 30 hits a day in either shop. This shop gets more, because of Treasury exposure, and well, it's soap. People can do without jewelry and purses, but soap is an affordable splurge.

I just keep going and making pretty things. I do get quite a few bridal orders in 1madwoman this time of year, so that helps keep that shop going.

I also created a Facebook page for the "business" with a link to Etsy. I did this mainly so that I could add a little more character to the business rather than just listing things. I add photos of new fabrics, etc. I try not to just link new listings to the page, instead I just post photos that I use in the listings.

It's not a huge fan base yet, but the reason I mention it is that when I post a photo on Facebook, I often get more views right after. I should probably analyze the stats to see if it's a coincidence, but anyway, thought I'd mention it.

And what is it about all those midnight views?!

Yes, even if you must relist one item a day it will help!

Also make friends with another shop and pin each other's items to Pinterest , share to facebook and twitter. Circulate your items off Etsy so people will find your shop and your product . Etsy Marriage ie: buddy system.

@Pearle - I totally agree about correct tags and titles.

I revamped mine about a month ago and my views spiked after that.
Lesson learned: no one is searching using "lavender" or "whimsical."

Well I'm in Australia so it's quite hard with the 14 odd hour time difference ;) I list once a day though between 6-9pm Etsy o'clock as that seems to be the time period we get the most views :)

I'm so oblivious - I just post whenever I have time to do it. I work full time so whenever I get the time to do the photography, editing, and copy I just post it. I figure anyone who's interested will find their way to my place at some point during the day or night! Talk about a relaxed attitude .... I do try to post one item a day, though. It seems to help my views when I am able to do that.
