I went to join the group but then thought I currently have only a personal Facebook page.
I am still working on my metrocottage business Facebook page.
Is that acceptable??

You do not need a Facebook business page. You can post links to your Etsy shop from your personal Facebook page.

I don't understand why it is a closed group of etsy sellers. Can you explain what the point is? Selling to a group of etsy sellers to me is the same as the promo threads i the etsy forum. Not very conducive to sales unless I am missing something here. Barbara

The purpose of closed groups on Facebook is to keep out spammers, and there are many spammers on Facebook.

We take a look at the FB page for the person applying to join the group and reject anyone that fits the usual profile of a spammer. Everyone else is welcome to join.

We are promoting this buying and selling group across multiple social media outlets. There are both sellers and buyers joining the group.

Thank you for the invite Mary. I went on Facebook and tried looking for the group. Nothing came up. The link in the email did not work for me. Am I missing something? I wanted to join.
