There are a few paid keyword research tools that are very good but I will be looking around for a good free keywords tool replacement.

Am I misunderstanding or is Keyword Planner still free, you just have to log into Adwords? Do they say they will charge or have plans to charge for use?

To me, it seems 'Search for Keyword and Ad Group Ideas' -> Get Ideas -> Keyword Ideas is similar to Keyword Tool. Is that accurate?

Please let me know if I am wrong about these things. Thank you!

Lizabeth,

The Keyword Planner should work if you log into an Adwords account. Google has always had this free tool available to PPC advertisers. It is possible to use the tool as if you are setting up a PPC ad but never actually run the ad.

When I have some time, I will look into the Keyword Planner to see if it is still free and how well it will work.

There are 2 keyword research companies that are not free but are excellent for keyword research: wordtracker.com and keyworddiscovery.com

Wordtracker.com is very good for beginners to use. Keyworddiscovery.com is more for experienced Keyword Researchers.
