First - thank you for inviting me.

I need some help with my shop....
I am not originally English speaking person, and while I can speak the language quite well, some words and certain sayings/ unofficial names for things are still a mystery.

Since before relevancy I am trying to tweak my two shops... and while it's working quite well in the other shop, this one gets little views.

I have especially hard time in naming my wooden jewelry, since it's quite unusual.
So I ask for help and also critique of my whole shop.

I want to improve and I don't mind to hear the truth. Also - if you think some product could be improved by a little change - please add you comment.

Hi and welcome :). I saw you asking questions upstairs and I knew that we could help you down here in a more detailed way. Mary knows everything.

I'm going to start you off with this thread of Mary's to give you a basic grounding in the concepts. It's going to be a little confusing so let us know when you're done and then we can start going over your shop bit by bit with you. You've got such cute stuff that it would be a shame not to be found.

ok, so I already see one mistake I've made... because I used google tag thing, but I was dropping the high competition tags thinking that because there's so many of those items probably, I will have more chance with low competition tags....

I've completed the tag research for the wooden stuff in my shop. Still pencil things and capes and zen garden left, but we can start with the wood. I'm very grateful for your help.Thank you (:

You are creating beautiful jewelry from pencils. It is so unusual that and most shoppers do not know this exists. For your shop, it is very important to find popular keywords that are very close to what you make but are better known by shoppers.

Your shop title is:
pencil jewelry, burl wood jewelry, tulle adult costumes

Using Google's Keyword Tool: https://adwords.google.com/select/KeywordToolExternal?forceLegacy=true

I checked these keywords to see how popular they are on Google:

[pencil jewelry] 36 16

The first number to the right of the keyword phrase is the total global searches. The second number is the total local (USA) searches.

Some of these keyword phrases are much too popular and have so many web sites competing on Google that you should not use them. Others are not popular enough for you to use.

Based on what I see in your shop, I think these keywords would work better for you in your shop title:

Wood Jewelry, Fantasy Costumes, Desk Art, Wall Art

Some of the other keywords in the list above would work very well for some of the section names in your shop and others can be used in the listings as well.

Since pencil jewelry is not very well known, you should add more keywords to the listing, placing the best keywords in front of the listing title, such as,
color pencil pendant necklace, geek jewelry, chemistry of love, chemical formula of LOVE, valentine day jewelry

The keywords in the above listing are:
pendant necklace
valentine jewelry
geek jewelry

Use all of these keyword phrases in the listing tags as well.

Always use Google's keyword tool to search for keywords that are at least somewhat popular that will help your listing get found on Google and on Etsy. You can come back here and ask about anything you are not sure of or just to get more help.

Pencils... it's hard to use proper keywords which people don't even use... like it's hard to sell something new & innovative... I have no idea what should I call those pencil necklaces instead...
colorful necklace? Geek necklace? spike? or just rely on colors...

How do I judge which keywords are too popular to be used? How do you do it?


Desktop organizers are main things that bring people to my shop. They have good keywords I think and people are looking for those...

But the rest.... I really have most of visibility problems with the wood collection....

They are also this type of jewelry: geek jewelry

Use both of those keywords phrase for your pencil necklaces, like this:

Pencil pendant necklace, geek jewelry

Use keyword phrases that you find when researching keywords in Google. These two posts should help:

It takes practice to learn which keywords work best for your listings. Choose keywords that you think are good, add the keywords to your listings and test the keywords in Google.

Your listing title an be any length but using good keywords in the front of the listing title works best.
