Help Sellers Find Keywords for Listing Titles and Item Tags - PLEASE Read Instructions Before Posting

As you all know, ITEM TAGS are very important for having our items found by potential customers.

A lot of sellers are having a tough time coming up with suitable tags though.
So, let's help each other!

HOW DOES THIS THREAD WORK?

1. SUGGEST TAGS for the item posted in this thread JUST BEFORE YOUR POST if possible or for a post 2 - 3 posts before your post. Include a link to the listing you are making tag suggestions for. .
AND:
2. Post a link to ONE of your listings that you want tag suggestions for.

Some things to remember:
- Tags can have a maximum of 20 characters.
- Multi word tags work better then single word tags. The more combinations of important search words, the higher your items will show up in search results.
- Don't be afraid your suggestions won't be 'good enough'. All suggestions are good! The seller decides which ones she/he will use.
- This game does not have a specific following order.
- Start your tag suggestions by linking to the item, to avoid confusion.

I would like help bringing my rag dolls to the front.

There is an awful lot of jewelry out there. One of the things I noticed was putting the age group in the keywords. little girl, tween, or adult etc.

By having the tags 'rag doll', 'cloth doll' and 'cloth rag doll' you're really repeating yourself and it's not going to help you. Eliminate the cloth doll and rag doll tags. You've got that covered in the cloth rag doll tag.

You have the tag 18 inch. 18 inch what? Ruler? work of art? you need to specify that this is an 18 inch doll

What does children and toddler mean? If you're doing what I think you're doing, you're trying to attract people looking for general children or toddler items and it's too general a tag. Try specifying childrens doll (the apostrophe won't show up) or toddler doll

soft toy isn't bad but I'd also add the word doll to it

I would avoid using the word homemade -- it has a connotation of not being made well, true or not. Say handmade cloth doll instead
handmade rag doll

straight curly what? if you mean hair, your description and title say straight hair. If you imply the doll has curly hair when it has straight someone looking for a curly haired doll won't be pleased. Say straight hair doll

stars on dress -- what is this for? Save this for the description.

Is this at all customizable? If so, mention that

If you need other tags, try saying gift ideas, birthday gift, gift for toddler

Make sure you use the same tags in your title as you use in your tags and make sure your tags are sprinkled through out your description, especially in the first 140 characters.

Very cute, I'm having difficulty with tags as well so this sounds like fun!

I would prob put for tags: string hair, childhood, doll, rag, comfort, play, fun, toy, dress, girl, cloth hat, handmade, gift, friend, fabric

Have you done research on the costs? If this was a gift I was giving to my niece I prob wouldnt since the cost is too high for a small child so is it more of a collectable if so I'd include that in my tag.

One thing that leaps out immediately is your use of single word tags.
You also repeat the same words that are in your category tags which is not necessary
combine the words as in
hanging suncatcher
window suncatcher
crystal suncatcher
beaded suncatcher
(because suncatcher is a long word I realize you may have some issues with tag length)
the color tags should be combined together or at the very least combined with beads as in 'purple gold' or 'purple beads' 'gold beads'
use your most dominant colors, don't try to list them all. It looks like purple is your main color aside from clear crystal
The suncatcher itself is the main object so I wouldn't focus as much on the hanging beads
You did well in adding home decor as a tag. You could try window decor as well, even perhaps porch decor
perhaps say chandelier beads as well
whatever keywords are in your title should be in your tags and vice versa

Also wondering about the spacing around the commas in your title - I understand that there should be spaces on either side of punctuation in titles or the tags aren't picked up in etsy's search - so maybe you're missing some searches because of that?

I can't add anything more to the tags others have suggested for Threshold Art and I've admired her work for a long time!

The only thing I will say as a reminder to all is to try mirroring your title keywords in your item tags and vice versa, and make sure they're also consistent throughout your listing (And I need to take my own advice, don't I?) Doing this will help with Etsy relevancy

Hi Amanda, I am not sure what the correct answer is to your question. I would defer to Mary and Lin for their expertise. I would add the actual length in inches in place of saying the length goes to your bosom.

I would remove the one word tags. Here are a couple I would try:

Actually in order to help with relevancy it helps to have the words in your title match your tags and vice versa, so yes, I would include vintage decor in your tags
You don't need to have nuts as a tag because you already have dyed nuts pits as a tag and nuts is in that tag. Besides, nuts on its own really says nothing about your item
It's good that in your description you mention an alternative use for this item. I would always try to suggest occasions to wear jewelry, what else you can do with it, that sort of thing

The first thing I noticed is that you have good keywords in your title but you haven't matched them in your tags. It's recommended that to raise your Etsy relevancy you have exact matches between your title keywords and your tags.
Also, I noticed that you have several single words in your tags including the tag wedding. There's no need to do that since you already use the word wedding in several of your other tags. Ditto with the single word champagne. You use the keyword purple wedding glasses in your title -- though the whole phrase probably won't fit, try purple wedding or purple glasses rather than the single tags. Or purple flower glasses or purple flower flutes
You also have bridal as a single word -- why not combine it with accessories?
Think about ways you can combine these single word tags so as to use the tags more effectively. Make sure you've used the same or similar tags in your descriptions. But sprinkle them throughout. Don't repeat your title in the first paragraph of your description. Basically this is duplication and Google frowns upon too much duplication. Google picks up the first 140 characters of your description as well as the first part of your description and shows it (hopefully) as part of the search results. Why duplicate it? Rather, use the first paragraph after you've repeated the title as the first paragraph of your description, and punch it up by using those keywords
